1. Martha's new fur baby

Thrilled to be the bearer of happy news!
Hello everyone,
After the sad news about the passing of poor little Puff, I'm pleased to be able to report some happy news today. Urged on by Harry, Martha decided to visit various local rescue shelters near her home in the USA and she has informed Harry that she is now the proud 'Mom' of a rescued Yorkshire Terrier who she has named Jesse. We are all so pleased for her. We know she will never forget Puff and will always have his memory in her heart, but we are also very happy that she taken it into her heart to offer a home to a fellow rescue dog and we simply know that little Jesse will have a wonderful home with Martha. she has given me permission to use her own words to Harry to tell you the story of how she found and adopted Jesse, so without further ado, here's Martha:

"He is so beautiful and loving.  I've never met a dog that gives so much love.  He wants to always be touching you.  And loves to give kisses.  I took him for a short walk around the complex and he marked every tree and bush in the area.  He already knows which door is ours and comes straight to it.

How I found him.  I went online to a group listing rescued dogs in the area.  They list dogs from the pound, humane society and rescue organizations.  I spotted one that I fell in love with.  His name was Alfie and he was a 1 yr. old Havanese (spelling?) mix.  White with a black face and ears.  They had shaved him due to his matting but were able to save his ears which were the longest I've ever seen on a dog.  He was beautiful.  I scheduled to meet him last Sunday feeling sure he would be the one.  My roommate went with me.  He's a retired firefighter and is home all day so any dog would have to like him too.  When we met Alfie he shyly came to me and finally got up on the arm of the sofa beside me but wouldn't stay too long.  He would get down and sit in a chair and give me a defiant look just like Puff used to give me when he would say Ha! Ha! I can ignore you!  That made me love him even more.  But the problem came with my roommate.  Alfie wouldn't go near him.  We found out later that he was apparently afraid of men.  Anyway, I was disappointed but the Foster Mother said she had another one to show us.  She had a couple coming after us to specifically meet see him but just in case she wanted us to see him.  His name was Snicker.  Snicker came in and went straight to my roommate John giving him kisses.  Then came to me and gave me kisses.  Then he laid between us with his head on my let and his legs on John's leg.  He wanted to touch both of us.  He was so precious and beautiful.

The Foster Mother said she would email me as soon as she found out what the other people decided.  I received that email from her Sunday night around 6:00.  I was so depressed that I actually sat and cried over the loss of Puff and now the loss of Snicker. I even went to bed at 7:30 and slept all night due to my depression.  I went to work and didn't even want to talk to anyone all day.  When I got home I decided to check my emails, which I had been neglecting.  There was a message from the Foster Mother saying the other couple changed their minds.  They decided they didn't want

2. Rest in peace, Puff, a departed friend

Love to Martha X
Hello everyone,
I'm afraid that I have the sad task to report the passing over a friend of mine and the pack's from across the ocean in the USA. Harry's friend, Martha Cheves, has been the constant companion for many years of little Puff, who she loved dearly. Sadly, Puff has not been well lately and last weekend he became very ill indeed. It was obvious to Martha that he was in a serious condition and she called the emergency vet who was left with no alternative other than to help ease Puff's suffering and helping him pass over to the Rainbow Bridge, where he is now at rest and wjhere he is free from all pain and in the company of all the other loyal and much loved dogs who have made that final journey. Martha is of course so very upset and Harry and I would like to ask everyone to think of her at this sad time  We are all so sad for Martha, and I know she and Puff had some wonderful times together, and we all hope the memories of those times will help her keep little Puff\alive in her memory forever. Martha kindly sent Harry these pictures of Puff, taken while he was opening his presents last Christmas.
Love to you all, and especially to Martha, and fond memories of Puff.

3. Happy Photos

Now that's how you dig a tunnel!
Hello everyone,
Just wanted to share some really nice pics with you, that Harry took recently while we've been playing on the field near our home.I think the ones of Dylan are just terrific and show just how happy he is when he's free to run and play. He looks like he's flying in one of them, don't you think? And just look at that great big Staffy smile from Sheba. I hope you all agree with me that we have some very happy dogs here in my little pack.

Lots of love to you all

4. Love amidst the sadness

Hello everyone,
Things have been pretty awful here lately for our human family. Since letting 3 of our lovely doggie pack go to new homes, our human Mum has been suffering terribly from something called 'depression' and simply isn't herself anymore. It seems the abusive language and treatment she was subjected to has rekindled all her old fears about the husband who once abused and treated her so badly and she is having a bad time trying to cope. As for Harry, his health has got worse, and the surgeons have told him his spinal problems will not get any better, an that his spine will in all probability continue to degenerate, whatever that big word means. Us doggies can tell he's not well by the way he limps and walks so slowly when he's out with us, but we love him even more for going through the pain barrier to make sure we get our playtime on the field. His heart isn't great and he sometimes takes so many of the tablets he has to use that he becomes very sleepy in the day, and I know he is in such pain that he often can't sleep at night and comes downstairs to see us and then goes walking in the garden to try and ease his pain. We mustn't forget the children, our best friends, who have had their summer holidays ruined by both being traumatised by the loss of three of their pets, and our loving companions.
Anyway, the whole point of this pot is to show through a few pictures the love that still lives here amongst us all. So, from here, I will let the pictures speak for themselves.
Lots of love to you all

5. How to open Christmas Presents

Here's little old me, keeping an eye on things
Hello everyone,

The other day, Harry was going through some of the pictures and videos on his camera, and came across the video you can see below, that he took last Christmas. Now, for years, the family have bought presents at Christmas for us doggies, which get opened after the family have received their own gifts. While most of the dogs sit around and watch, clever little me opens up the presents, (Harry and the family think I'm very brainy to do it), and then everyone dives in to see what we've got. Last year, as you'll see, Sophie must have been watching me, and after I'd demonstrated the art of present opening, she decided to have a go, and did really well. So, this year, maybe I'll have an assistant when it comes to opening our Christmas presents. anyway, I do hope you enjoy watching me and Sophie.

Lots of love to you all

7. I'm so sad to lose 3 of my best friends!

I'm so sad!
Hello everyone.

I'm so sad to have to tell you about the sad news that 3 of my very best friends, Molly, Snoopy and Pepe have left us because of some trouble that happened here recently. Even though we are all very quiet and rarely make any noiseat all, one day, the man who lives next door stopped my Mum outside the house and began shouting at her, telling her that 'living next door to all us dogs was devaluing his house, (which isn't even for sale). Then, he said we wake him and his wife at night, but, only 2 or 3 of us ever bark at night and then only if we hear a strange noise or sense a potential intruder or something outside. Recently we have been beset by neighborhood cats gathering at the front of our house and making loud wailing noises which have woken Harry and Mum up, and then 2 or 3 of our 'alert' dogs have barked in response. Harry always comes and tells them to be quiet and it only takes him about 20 seconds to get to us and then all is quiet again. Also, there has been an urban fox prowling around at night, and we have sensed it and warned the family of the presence of the predator. In fact, we scare it away which helps to stop it attacking next door's cats, and let's be honest, it would tear the cats to bits so we are actually saving their cat's lives.
Here was Pepe curled up with his best friend, little Dinky.
way he actually spoke to her, swearing and being very nasty to her, that they both found themselves suffering from so much stress and tension that both had to visit the doctor and Mum now has terrible depression and nightmares, and Harry is even more unwell than before. Such was the tension that they decided they couldn't cope with us all any more and so, poor Molly, Snoopy and Pepe have been found new homes and have left us, which has made all us dogs, and the family, especially the children so sad. In fact the children are broken hearted to have lost 3 members of our family as that is how we are treated and loved here at Harry's. At least we know they all have new loving homes, as Harry arranged it through a friend of his who helps to run an animal charity and she made sure they all got the best loving homes available.

8. Please say hello to Barney

Do you like the hole I dug?
Hi everyone,

I hope you'll all join me in saying a big hello to my latest friend and pack member, Barney. He's a Jack Russell crossbreed, (not sure what else he has in his breeding), and is a really jolly, friendly little fella. Barney, who is quite young,  was recently adopted from the dog pound by one of Harry's friends, an elderly gentleman whose own elderly dog had recently died. Sadly, Barney proved a bit too much of a handful for him and in the end, he asked Harry if we could take him in and give him a good home, rather than having him returned to the pound. Of course, Harry said yes, and Barney is now settling in nicely with all of us and loves going for walks on the field and running loose and free, which he couldn't do with his previous elderly owner, who was afraid to let him off in case he couldn't get him back.He is a very handsome little dog and has fitted in so well it's like he's been with us for ages. Hope you all like him too.

Sasha is continuing to improve after her operation and after the photos of Barney you can see a short video of her with Barney, taken in the garden the day after her operation. She is allowed short periods of exercise but has to have lots of rest in between to help her leg heal after the operation. We hope it won't be long before she's passed fit and is ready to join in all our fun and games once again. She's still only just over 20 weeks old so it's a shame her early weeks have been so sad and painful for her. We'll all try and make it all up to her once she's well again.

Lots of love to you all and have a lovely weekend.

9. Sasha has had her operation

Me looking a bit worried for Sasha
Our poor little Sasha had her operation yesterday in an attempt to repair the leg she broke for the second time a week ago. The orthopedic surgeon had to open up her joint, remove the screw he'd inserted from the first operation, and then fit a new one, plus a steel plate which will remain in her leg forever. She was very groggy when she came home last night, but seemed to be feeling better this morning. Then, all of a sudden, blood started to come out of her operation wound like a little fountain. Harry rushed her back to the vet, who said she'd suffered from a build up of pressure in the wound, and the blood was released when Mum tried to swab her wound as advised this morning. They changed Sasha's dressing and we hope she will now be okay until she goes for her post op check on Friday. It will be a few weeks until we know if her joint is fully healed this time, so we must all keep our paws crossed for our little baby girl. Meanwhile, here are a couple of photos that Harry took of her when she came home, and also a little video of her pottering around in the sunshine this morning. (The vet said d she can have a few minutes of exercise a day).
Lots of love to you all

10. Sasha has broken her leg - AGAIN. I'm so sad for her

Sasha
I'm so sad, because the other day, Harry and Sasha came back from a visit to see the orthopedic surgeon, and poor Sasha has broken her leg again when she landed badly while playing. He is going to operate again on Monday and we have to try and keep her quiet and on strong painkillers until then. He'll be taking out the screw he put in her joint when she first broke the leg and then putting a new screw and a plate in the joint after resetting the bones again. We love her so much and hate to see her going through all this. She's such a happy girl and even now, her tail never stops wagging. We all call her Mrs. Wrigglebottom because when she wags her tail her whole back end wriggles in time with the tail wagging. We can only hope that our little baby will be fine and well after yet another operation and the period of rest she must have again afterwards.
Lots of love to you all

11. Molly having fun

Molly and me
Hello again everyone,
I hope you'll all enjoy this short video clip, taken by Harry, that shows Molly the Westie, (with a very short 'guest appearance' by Sophie), having fun with one of our human sisters, and her own special ball, on the big field near our house. Molly is actually the eldest member of my little pack, having just passed her eighth birthday, but she's still super fit and super fast, (when she wants to be). It was a lovely sunny day, and Molly sure did enjoy herself. This was just a few seconds of what was a great long playing session for 6 of us on the field. Hope everyone has a lovely weekend.
Lots of love

12. My Grooming Day

The things us girls go through
Hello again everyone,
Just thought you might like to see this short video of me being groomed by my Mum. Because of all the problems I had before being rescued, with my coat being allowed to grow wild, leaving me a scruffy mess, I've never been too happy at the feel of the brush or comb, but my Mum has showed real patience with me and now I am not too bad and quite happily allow her to make me look pretty every Saturday, when she does a nice job of tidying me up. As you can see, she even manages to have a bit of fun with me as she works on me, so that must show how I've improved in my relationship with the dreaded slicker brush! Of course, I get a daily brush as well, but Saturday is the day when she does all of us dogs, and anyone who needs a bath gets one too.
Anyway, the things us girls go through to stay good looking eh?
Lots of love to everyone

14. Sasha's broken leg is healing nicely

Hello again everyone, and a very Happy Easter to you all, from me, Harry and the pack.
Having finally been given the okay from the vet to resume normal life at long last, here's a short video of Sasha playing with me and Dinky on the field near our home. (Sorry about the wind noise, but it was rather breezy when Harry shot the video). After the terrible start in life she's had it's wonderful to see our little girl (now 17 weeks old) beginning to enjoy life at last. I can also be seen doing one of what Harry calls my 'crazy runs' I she run in a big zig zag circle round the field, which I really love to do to stretch my legs and simply show my pleasure at living life to the full.
Lots of love to you all

16. Please say hello to Misty, our new young lady friend

Me, a bit breathless after
a long playing session!
Hello everybody,
I'd like to introduce you all to Misty, who became the latest addition to my little pack of rescue dogs just over a week ago. Isn't she a pretty little thing? She is very friendly with humans and to all of us dogs most of the time, but she is having a few problems adjusting to living with all of us from time to time. I think it's her nervousness that makes her suddenly turn and bark and show her teeth at any one of us, and she has jumped at me(!) and a couple of the others once or twice. I'm sure Harry will soon sort her out though and that she just needs a bit of time to adjust to her new home. She loves to play with a little ball and even though she's only been with us a short time, Harry is already confident enough to let her run free and play with us on the field and she has never once looked as though she was going to try and run away. She is quite funny, running round and round in big circles with the ball in her mouth, loving every second of the freedom to run and be happy. Like all rescue dogs, she has obviously had a bad time in the past before coming to us so the rest of us will all do as much as we can to let her know she is safe and loved here in her new home and that she has nothing to fear from any of us. Hopefully she'll soon be best friends with us all.

Lots of love

17. Meet the ancestors? Me, a Wolf?

Me
Hi everyone

The wolf
The other day, Harry, who has been very poorly lately, was sitting looking at a book and he began to tell me about the things he was reading. It was about the ancestors of all us modern day dogs, the Wolf. Apparently all of us, from little old me, to the Great Dane and the tiny Chihuahua, share a common ancestry, being descended from Canis Lupus, or, the Wolf. It seems that there are 39 subspecies of the wolf, including Canis Lupus Familiaris, (that's us, the domestic dog). It's hard to believe isn't it, when you look at some of the breeds of my modern cousins, that we all share a great deal of our DNA with such a proud and noble beast. Harry also told me that one of the species of wolf, the GRay Wolf, is now on the endangered species list, and that made me so sad. What a shame it would be if my ancestors were to die out and not be here anymore for people to look at and admire. After all, it must have taken quite some effort by Harry's and your ancestors to convince the Wolf, many years ago to live in peace with humans and then allow itself to become a domesticated animal. Harry says that's why he wrote Wolf, the adventure story that will be released in June, in an effort to help people understand the wolf and to realize that it is not a vicious and violent predator, but simply another one of nature's great and beautiful creatures, that shares our planet and wants only to be left in peace, to hunt for food and to take care of its young, much as they have done for many centuries. So, I will leave you with the pictures Harry found of my own, and every modern dog's most noble ancestor. Hope you like them.

Lots of love
Tilly (Canis Lupus Familiaris....hehe)

18. Sasha in Recovery

Hi everyone,
As I'm sure you all know from my earlier post, out little puppy Sasha (still only 12 weeks old), recently broke her leg and we've all been so very worried about her. Well, me and Harry thought you might like to see a few pictures of her showing hr progress since the big operation she had to fix her leg. The vet had to put things called screws and pins in her joint so she will have those bits of metal inside her for the rest of her life, but as long as they hold her joint together, I'm sure she won't mind. We're all just so happy to see her doing so well and the following pictures will speak for themselves. So, I'll leave you all to look at them and say love to you all, and Sasha, me and Harry are so grateful for all the lovely get well messages Sasha has received over the last few weeks.

19. Dylan's Tale has been released!

Hi everyone,

I'm so pleased for my little best friend Dylan, because, his own life story, Dylan's Tale has now been released by 4RV Publishing. If you take a look you'll see that the cover of Dylan's book is very similar to the one for my own book Tilly's Tale, which of course is great as it gives Harry's Dog Tales series a readily recognizable identity. The lovely Mandy Hedrick has once again done all the wonderful illustrations for the book and me and Harry, (and Dylan), are delighted with the finished book. I hope you'll check it out. At the moment it's available from the publisher at 4RV Publishing but will also be available from Amazon and lots of other places very soon. I'm sure Harry will keep you updated. There's a terrific video trailer for the book at You Tube which Harry has kindly helped me to load into this post. Hope you like it.I wish Dylan every success with his book and hope it does as well as mine has so far.

21. Please say a little prayer for Sasha

Hello everyone.
Please, please can I ask you to say a little prayer for our tiny puppy, Sasha. Today, while playing with her best friend, little Dinky, she fell down the stairs and has broken the elbow in her right front leg. Harry had to take her to the vet who did  x-rays and she has had to stay at the vets on painkillers until an orthopedic surgeon can come on Wednesday to perform an operation and put some pins in her joint. Poor baby has only just recovered from a life threatening infection in her chest and respiratory system and now she has to go through all this too. We are all missing her terribly and can't wait for her to come home to us, where she belongs, but Harry says she might have to stay at the vet's for a week or more. Poor Sasha, what can a little abandoned puppy have done to deserve all this so early in her life. She's still only 9 weeks old, after all.
Lots of love to you all.

23. We have 2 new arrivals and Harry has found a great charity too. Read about Nowzad Dogs.

Hi everyone,
Well, it's been a really hectic week here. On Friday Harry came home with a new member of our pack, a rescued miniature pinscher/chihuahua cross who he's called Pepe. Pepe is a lovely little boy. We don't know how old he is but he's not very old, that's for sure. He's very quiet and hasn't barked at all yet, and he's ultra clean and gets on with absolutely everybody, dogs and people.  He's great! what I didn't know was that when Harry and Mum went to the pound last week to see Pepe, they also saw another dog who they surprised us with yesterday. Sasha arrived after lunch and is a little Staffy pup, no more than 7 or 8 weeks old. The dog wardens had found her wandering the streets poor baby, and took her to the pound, where, after spending the necessary period, Harry was able to add yet another rescue dog to our little family. Of course, at her age, Sasha should really still be with her Mummy, so Harry and Mum have a lot of hard work on their hands to take care of her and make sure she grows up fit and healthy, but of course, they're rather good at that.
Here are some pictures of the two new additions. You'll see that Pepe has become close to little Dinky already. If you can't tell who is who, in the picture of Pepe with Dinky, Pepe is the smooth haired one.

And now, all about NOWZAD DOGS!

Together with all the excitement at home, Harry has also discovered, quite by chance, a wonderful animal charity that helps rescue, dogs and other animals from the war zones in Afghanistan and Iraq.  Harry was looking for a sew on patch for his body warmer,

24. Snow Fun

Hello everyone,
You might have heard  that we've had lots of snow over here, and, well, yes, we have. Poor Harry and the family have been struggling just to get out and take us all for our daily walks, but yesterday, Harry and the kids took me, Sophie, little Cassie, Dinky and Snoopy on the big field near our house so we could have a play in the snow. The humans hate it when the snow is so deep, but us doggies love it, apart from the longer haired ones like me and Cassie, Molly, Charlie and Dylan, who have to go through the drying off bit when we all get home and have to have the snow balls eased from our legs.
Anyway, Harry took some great photos and a couple of short videos of us having a great time and he's loaded a video and some pictures here for you all to see us enjoying ourselves. Hope you enjoy them. (You can click at the bottom right hand corner of the video frame to see it in full screen mode)
