3. The Salinas Account Suffers It's First Broken Bone

...and it belongs to Alexandra's arm.Neither Melissa or I have ever had a broken bone in our lives, so it came as a shock when Alex fell down off the living room ottoman and broke her Ulna and dislocated her Radius the day before 4th of July.It all happened so quickly. Alex hopped on the ottoman and sat down on her knees, lost her balance and tumbled over onto the carpeted floor. I must admit, it

6. The Salinas Account Hits The RGV and SPI

In June, we took a week off and visited my parents in the Rio Grande Valley and together made it out to South Padre Island. The kids absolutely love it and for me, it reminds me of my youth when my parents would take me and my sisters to the island. This time around, Matias couldn't get enough of the water. At least last year he seemed content building sand castles, but not this time. It was all

7. Alex Gets Her Ears Pierced

Let me just say, this was Alexandra's idea from the beginning. The momentum of getting her ears pierced started building around the time of her 4th birthday. She started carrying a pair of earrings my parent gave her when she was born for a week straight and would tell us she was ready to wear them. From the pictures below, you would think we forced her to do it, but it was all her.p.s. the girl

8. Alexandra Mia Turns 4

Alex turned 4 in May. She was surrounded by family, friends, a bounce house, gifts, a pinata and great food. What else is really needed?

9. 2010 Easter with The Salinas Account

2010's Easter was spent at my In-Laws as we do every year. There, they still get a kick out of creating an Easter egg hunt for the kids... of all ages.

10. The Salinas Account Feeds Ducks.... again

This has become a annual ritual. There is a neighborhood lake near our home with lots of geese and ducks. We bring along some bread and make sure to throw them some pieces before getting "goosed" by impatient quackers. This was a while back - that's how behind I am with these posts. Enjoy the pictures.

11. Matias, Me and Thomas

Last month, Matias and I had a boys day out. A life size Thomas the Train rolled into Grapevine's downtown, and Matias and I headed out for the festivities. Besides Thomas, they also had a petting zoo, children's singer, bounce houses and of course the dreaded gift shops. Matias could've stayed all day looking at the model trains go round and round. It was a blast and I look forward to our

14. Record Snowfall in Dallas, TX

Last Thursday, we saw record snowfall in DFW. I think the official number was around 9 inches by the end of the day. It was snowing all day - something I have never seen living in TX all my life. It was a sight and a blast getting in it to build a snowman and to throw snowballs. I think Melissa and I had as much fun as the kids.

16. ICE! at the Gaylord Texan

...or as we told the kids, The Grinch's House. ICE! is an event held at the Gaylord Texas every year where they make everything out of ice and give you a huge coat to walk around. This year's theme was "How the Grinch Stole Christmas". Since the kids love the story of the Grinch, we thought it would be great to take them. We walked through the hotel until we got to what looked like the meat

17. Christmas 2009

This year Alex was old enough to understand the Santa concept and was looking forward to her skates and xylophone and Matias was just happy to be tearing things open. Alex decided Santa wanted chocolate milk instead of plain milk and left some out with some cookies. We were surprised to see a little bit of snow Christmas morning and got the kids out in it before it melted away.

18. HAPPY 2ND BIRTHDAY MATIAS

Our boy is 2 - I can't believe it. It seems like only yesterday I was looking at him screaming his head off in the hospital nursery while other happy families wondered, "I wonder why that baby is crying so much?" - ah my boy. Always knows how to make his presence heard. We love you, mijo.Thank you all who helped us celebrate.

19. Carnival Time

Saw this carnival at a near-by mall one day and told the kids we'd bring them out the next. When we arrived the next day, we arrived too early and just decided to roam around the grounds until they started taking our tickets. We got to see the cotton candy being made, booths being opened and of course carnies gambling their pay, hiding from authorities in the tilt-a-bears. It was a sight

20. Happy Halloween 2009

This year was the first Halloween where we had both kids walking and it is definitely preferred. They both got real good use out of their costumes this year. They wore their costumes to our local library's Halloween story time, our city's downtown Halloween festival, and then again on Halloween night.Alex was a butterfly/princess and Matias was Scooby-Doo

21. The Big Salinaski

A little after our stay-cation in September, we hit the lanes at a local bowling alley. I needed to teach the family the proper way to roll a strike..... actually, the only one that hit a strike was Alexandra. Either way, kids loved every minute of it and couldn't wait for their next turn to "push" the ball down the lane. Now a days, you can request for the gutters to be blocked off during a kid's

23. It's the Great Pumpkin Patch!

We made it out to the pumpkin patch this year. Kids had a great time, and it looks like this is becoming a Salinas annual tradition. The kids loved picking out their own pumpkins and sticking their heads in the cartoon cut-outs, but I think they were more interested in the park right next to the pumpkin patch. They couldn't wait to get the pumpkin thing over with in order to slide down the slide.

24. Salinas Stay-cation

Last month, I decided to take a week off work while my parents came up to visit. I thought it would've been fun to run them around town with the kids to places like the zoo and the arboretum. Well, we made it to the arboretum on their second day here, but after that, it rained non-stop until the day they left. We made the most of it during the day with coloring books and puzzles with the kids

25. The Salinas Account's Virtual Food Drive

In North Texas there is a 29 million meal gap between what people need – 3 meals per day – and what they can currently access. The people affected are children, families, and seniors. They go to our schools, live in our neighborhoods, and work in our community. Stopping hunger is a growing passion of Salinas Family, so we have started a virtual food drive in support for the North Texas Food
