1. Space Skull!

A gouache painting of Space Skull, a character created by my buddy Jake Parker. Jake is running a rocking Kickstarter for a collection of his best sketchbook drawings (with Senor Skull on the cover.)

The campaign ends in just a few days. So get the book while you can.

My favorite green hero.

I did a bunch of different color treatments for this image. The simplest one ended up the best.

6. Dragons

Did you know that Chinese dragons have 5 toes?  If it has fewer than 5 it is from another country.  True thing.

Did you know drawing Chinese dragons is fun?  True thing.

7. Mario in a Boot

I've been playing a lot of old school NES games recently and I'm amazed at how much fun they still are to play.  Do you remember that level in Mario 3 that had the green shoe?  You could jump on spikes and piranha plants and everything.

I love that shoe.  But you only get to use it in one level.

Rip off.

8. METRO Short Film

METRO from Jacob Wyatt on Vimeo.

Last year I had the pleasure of working briefly on a short animated film.  The movie was directed by my good buddy Jake Wyatt.
Beautiful stuff.  Enjoy.

10. Ms. Ant

And here is Ms. Ant.  She’s the jerk that doesn’t share her food with Ms. Cricket.
I kind of have issues with the morals of this story.

12. Hazardous Monsters

I drew a few "hazard monsters" for my friend Rick Walton a few days ago.  He's writing up a presentation to teach kids about dangerous stuff around their houses.

I look for any opportunity I can to draw monsters.

15. Happy Tee Bot Is Go!

I just opened up a new Etsy Shop.  I call it "Happy Tee Bot."  I sell shirts for kids.

I have my first two designs printed already with another two on the way soon (one of which involves glow-in-the-dark ink!)

16. Fractured Fairy Tales

I recently did some short comics for Uncle John's Bathroom Reader (chuckling encouraged.)  They put out some pretty fun books for kids (grown -ups too.)  This story is for a collection of fractured fairy tales called "The Enchanted Toilet."  Fun times.

My friend Michelle did some good stories for the book too.

17. Picture Book Marathon 2012

This year's Picture Book Marathon is coming up in February.  I'm a bit sad that I can't participate this year (due to a time sucking secret project that I'm working on.)

But I got to do the logo for this year's PBM.  So that was fun.

The "leap!" bit comes from this year being a leap year.  One extra day.  Woot.

19. Merry Christmas

Earlier this year I had the wonderful opportunity to be on a set-building crew locally here in Utah.  We we building a set to resemble ancient Jerusalem.  Here is one of the videos shot on that set.

It was a great project to be a part of.  Merry Christmas.

PS: Pretty much all of the "stone" you see in the video is styrofoam blocks carved to look like stone.  It was mounted on plywood walls and sprayed with cement from a high-pressure hose.  Then the cement (thousands of square feet) was textured by hand with brushes and such.  That was what our crew did on the show.  It was grand.  I loved this job.

PPS: The porch where Mary meets to talk with Martha was my favorite place to eat lunch every day.  I ate many a turkey sandwhich there.

PPPS: You can see more of the videos shot on this set HERE.  Or just download the FREE APP.

20. Stop It George, Just Stop It

How many times is he going to repackage this garbage?  I try to ignore it, but every time I see him screwing with Star Wars it irks me.

I'm starting to resent the whole series.  Even the good movies.  And I hate that.

Grrrrr.

22. Cardboard Cyborg

This year for Halloween I wanted to see if I could make a costume for exactly $0.  Turns out, I can.  Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you cardboard cyborg.  Truly a marvel of modern science.

I'll see if I can get some better photos posted soon to show off the details.

I love Halloween.  Does it show?

23. Inktober Concluded

Yup, it is about over.  But I saved a couple of my favorites for the end.  I really like the dishwasher robot.  I want one of my own.  And even robots are more fun in space.

Now I need to finish building my Halloween costume.  It also involves robots.  And cardboard.

24. Inktober Continued

A bunch more robot coloring pages.

25. Inktober

Yup, it's Inktober, a holiday season only observed by illustrators and the ink people who live at the bottoms of dry wells.

In honor of the season I'm posting a bunch of free coloring pages on one of my favorite subjects: robots.

Go ahead and print them out for your kids (or yourself.)  Enjoy.
