3. Stability Ball Exercises: Back Extensions

I've got a history of lower back problems and just discovered this exercise. It's a work in progress but it might be the best thing I've done for my lower back in over ten years. Of course, I might end up throwing my back out by not doing it properly but if I get it right, it looks like a great way to strengthen my lower back and reduce future mishaps.

5. From Picture Book to Chapter Book

So anyway, I published a picture book back in 2010. It was about a young, mischievous boy named Rudy, who wasn't very kind to his little brother and sister. He met up with a creature named Cirrus, and in short, experienced a new perspective on his relationship with his siblings. Well, I've taken that story and adapted it to an early readers chapter book entitled, Reckless Rudy and the Green Vase. Much of the story is the same, but many elements have changed due to the free-flowing chapter book format. If you're interested it's available in Kindle and Print format.

Description: He kicks toys about. He knocks lamps over. He forgets to do his homework. But it doesn’t stop there. He also steals food from his little sister. He makes his little brother do his chores. He doesn’t care one way or the other what anyone thinks. He’ll step on your toes if you get in his way. He’s just reckless, and he gets away with all of it. When his mom brings home a beautiful, old green vase to keep for their aunt, Rudy just can't keep his hands off the priceless antique. He will soon step into a weird and wacky, afternoon adventure of chases and flight. Ages 5-8.

16. Creating a Picture Book Reader App

So I'm learning how to make a reader app out of my picture book, Rudy and Cirrus of Karma that will feature read to me capability for Android tablet devices. So far so good. I'm using the Corona SDK as my coding platform and Kwik (plug-in) for Photoshop as my app creation tool. The most challenging part has been trying to fit the 8 x 10 layout within the 1024 x 600 dimensions. Using Kwik has been pretty straight forward with a few minor bumps along the way. I know very little about Lua coding and for someone like me who likes to work in graphics programs, Kwik has been a lifesaver. For the audio I've been using Adobe Audition via Line 6 and Gearbox and I can save time selected bits of tracks into mp3 files. I just need to find a way to compress or export the mp3s so they aren't space hogs. For now, I'm gong to keep experimenting and see what else I might discover in this process.
