Hi Everyone, as youcan see we've had a name change.  We're now Self Help Books.  As a life skills coach I read so much and I wanted to share my thoughts here.

To get a copy of my eBook Getting Started with the Law of Attraction go to http://www.lulu.com/spotlight/wendyatloalivingdotcom  It's a complete guide to using the law of attraction in your own life.  Right now it's on sale with 75% off the normal price as part of my Birthday Celebration offers.  Offer ends on 19th June.

This book is amazing and one I've read several times.  It's full of stories of people who have used the lawof attraction in their lives.  I love to read these success stories and it's the sort of book you can pick up and read a complete story in just a few minutes.  An absolute must in my opinion for anyone wanting to change their lives for the better.

3. The J.K. Rowling Story

J.K. Rowling has been a huge inspiration to so many writers, me included.  I was just having a quick look on YouTube this morning and came across this video.  I wanted to share it with you as I'm sure many of you will also be interested in and eager to see Magic Beyond Words.

4. Fingers Crossed & Toes Crossed

I've done it! I've taken the plunge and sent out my young reader manuscript to two publishers.  I actually managed to find some publishers still accepting unsolicited manuscripts.  Even better I was able to email them along with my synopsis and bio of course.
I'm always so undecided about whether it's acceptable to send a manuscript to more than one publisher at a time.  Anyway, after lots and lots of procrastinating, I finally decided to start sending it out to all publishers I feel it is a good match with.  I have a nice list ready and I'm going to send it out to two more publishers tomorrow.  So this is a definite case of fingers crossed and toes crossed.

This is the first time I have submitted a manuscript by email, very environmentally friendly I'm pleased to say.  I'm hoping that will mean a quicker response time.  Mmm, yes I know this is a bit of wishful thinking on my part but hey miracles do happen.

Happy writing everyone.

5. Finished The Month with 21 Articles

I'm very pleased with my article work for the Month.  I have to admit I had set myself a target of 30 by the end of the month. Realistically as I only had 2 weeks to do this it was a little too much.  Never the less I'm delighted with my articles.

New Target for March.

Oh, happy March by the way. My new target based on the articles I've managed to write so far is 50 artciles in total by the end of March.  So I've got 29 articles to write over the course of the month.  I think this is a realistic figure and from what I read on the Suite101 forums, the money gets better after the 50 article milestone.

Here's to a wonderful March, lots of writing and reading.

7. Articles Published.

I'm so excited.  I've just begun writing articles for Suite101.com and I'm loving writing every day.  I've set myself a target of writing 50 articles by the end of the month.  I've got 6 published so far.  They're self help, self improvement, law of attraction, parenting articles.  I know from experience when you write daily it gets so much easier for the writing to flow.  My first article took me hours, yesterday I wrote three articles.  Of course there's the checking and editing to do once it's written but I'm getting articles out there.

For me this experience is 3 fold.  I get my business name out there and get recognition as an expert in my field.  I can earn some money from Suite101 itself and I have my work online for others to see and hopefully contract me to write for them or buy the article.  This seems to happen a lot from reading the forum.

Here are my published articles so far.

How to End Procrastination

Understanding The Law of Attraction

6 Daily Habits for Financial Success

5 Daily Habits for Positive Thinking

Using The law of Attraction to Attract a New Car

Do You Really Listen to Your Children

Is anyone else writing for Suite101.com?  Let us know and share your articles.  Well share any writing news with us.

Happy Writing

9. Most Memorable Book

What's the most memorable book you've ever read?  For me it's a book I read in my late teens called Sunshine by Norma Klein.  It's a true story of a young mother who is dying.  I read the story several times and it's a story I will never forget.  It sounds very sad and I suppose it is but it's also an incredible story of courage and love.  Another story I read quite recently was a book aimed at young adults so at 38 I probably wasn't meant to read it but I did.  The book is called Elsewhere by Gabrielle Zevin.  Elsewhere is the place you go when you die.  It's a fascinating story and remarkably believable.

I looked up both books on Amazon.  Whilst I found Sunshine there was no price.  At the time of writing this post you can pick up a used copy of Elsewhere for just $0.01 wow, what a bargain.

15. Great Quote

I just came across this fantastic quote and had to share it with you.

Wear the old coat and buy the new book ~ Austin Phelps

I just had to share it with you.  It's great isn't it?

You know I have so many friends who are obsessed with new clothes, bags, make up, shoes...

Of course I like to look nice and do enjoy buying new clothes but it's nothing compared to the thrill I get going into a book store and choosing a new book.  I love it.  I love the smell of a new book.  I love the feel of a new book.

If I had to choose ~ Yep, I'd choose a book.

How about you?

18. Best Management Book I Ever Read

I love reading a wide variety of books. I was searching through some books I'd packed away the other day and came across a book I love. The one minute manager. I read this book several years ago when I was the manager of a private nursery school. The messages in this book have stayed with me ever since. If you have a managerial position, have your own business or are thinking of working for yourself this is a great book.
I have to say I even use the principles of this book in my family life.

There is a follow on book called one minute manager meets monkey which is also brilliant. In fact there's a whole series of these books but I've not read the others. I might add one or two to my reading list for this summer. Umm!  Yes, I think that's a wonderful idea.

Happy reading x

19. Books - Shmuley Boteach - Parenting With Fire

Well that's one book finished only 6 more to go.  I love reading parenting books.  I like to see how others raise their own families and get different ideas.  Shmuley's family are all practicing Jews and I found it really interesting learning alittle about their way of life.  Some of you may know Shmuley as the host of Shalom In The Home.

If anyone is interested in reading about Shmuley Boteach and his family here's where you can get hold of his book.

21. Create Unforgettable Characters For Your Story

I love creating new characters but I often get to the end of a story and realise that my character needs more...

More what I'm not sure, just more.  I tend to get the main character worked out then sort of slot in the other characters without giving them much thought.

I found this earlier today and thought I'd share it with you http://tinyurl.com/yzc7pbr

22. Online Critique Groups

Over the years I've joined and left many online critique groups.  For me being part of a really good writing group and knowing I can get honest and relevant critiques for my work has been an essential part of improving my writing skills.  My grammer and punctuation often leave a lot to be desired.  My hands don't always keep up with my thoughts and I get carried away.  I like to think I can create strong characters and a great plot to make up for my shortcomings.

Anyway, The online critique group that I use and have been with now for several years is Critique Circle.  It caters for a wide variety of genres, including children's writing, which is where most of my work goes.  It works on a point system.  You give a critique to get points.  When you post something to be critiqued you spend points.  It's a really easy and fair system.

Tip.  Shorter writings get more critiques. so if you are writing a novel, only submit a couple of chapters at a time.  this way you will get a good mix of critiques.

Here's the link  http://www.critiquecircle.com/

Oh, by the way it's a free group.

23. The Butterfly Lion - Michael Morpurgo

I have just finished reading The butterfly Lion by award winning author Michael Morpurgo. What a superb book this is. This is the first of Michaels books I have bought to read to my 8 year old son and we've already decided which one we want next. I had to stop several times during the story to steady my voice. The story is incredibly moving. This story will appeal to readers of all ages young and old.

We're giving this book a 10 out of 10 for sure. Beautiful.

25. Quick Money for Writing

Today I want to put a question to you. Is it possible to make quick money from writing? I know writers who have made a good salary from what simply writing short verses for greeting cards. I know people who have become extremelly wealthy in a short time from Copy Writing. This blog is I'm afriad slightly neglected as I mainly focus on my work related blogs. I have a parenting blog and a law of attraction blog. Both of these blogs make me a nice amount of money each month as do my newsletters I write. Today I want to share a few ideas with you.
