1. Discipline

So I'm back in Texas and trying to start a writers group. Lots of people showed interest and responded wanting to know more and participate, yet no one will respond with their availablity. I am a person who hates to wait. Trying to get a response is like pulling teeth. I am a "get up and go" kind of person. If something needs to be done I do it. If I commit to something I put it on the front of my to do list. I make sure I get it done.
Throughout my childhood I had to listen to my parents, do chores, cook dinner, keep my room straightened. Now that I'm older I realize that those things helped form who I am today. If it wasn't for the discipline and accountability I probably would not be dependable, on time, responsible , etc. . . Today's youth are spoiled. I wish parents would stop enabling them. It does not do them justice. It just helps mold them into self centered adults that you now see everywhere. It's all about them, if it isn't they do not care nor bother feeling for others. There is no compassion or understanding or comradery. Picking up the slack where it's needed, whether at work or in the home. How can someone see somebody working and not offer to help? Who walks by trash in their own house and doesn't pick it up? Many children do not realize the strength and energy parents put in at work trying to support the family and children do nothing to make the parents feel appreciated. Not even just pick up after themselves. If everyone would just take care of themselves and their mess, or keep their promises that comes out of their own mouth, or even feel for another human being how nice could this world be? Would their be harmony? Peace? Humanity throughout the world? I'm sure stress would definately decrease all around. If everyone could take care of themselves and get thier life in order it would than be possible to lend a hand or support another. How can you help others when you don't even help yourself?

2. Focus, Determination and Drive

I haven't posted a blog in a few months now and to those in waiting I apologize. My world recently stood still for a moment, but now it's spinning again. My father suffered a heart attack while serving in Iraq just before Thanksgiving. I was living in California and had to relocate to Texas and be with family. He is healthy and well now (Thank God) and I have realized how little time we truly have here on Earth.
So I say now if there is something in life you want to enjoy or experience than make it happen! Stop watching TV, spending time surfing the net, wasting time on video games (I know World of Warcraft can suck you into a time warp) but you are wasting your time. Use your time to create for yourself a better future. If you're in school . . .study, you own a business. . . focus, you have a family, hobby, idea . . spend the time. My cousin (who is a Chiropractor) use to tell me "Work hard now, play harder later!" I realize the importance of that now and wish I had listened but that saying rings in my ears along with "Don't be lazy!" (I got that from my uncle Sam), "What are you waiting for?" (from good old dad) and

song lyrics by Kanye West that go like:

3. 11 Rules of Success

I just read this and thought I'd pass it along. Enjoy!!

The Law of Experience - "Success comes from good judgement; good judgement comes from experience; experience comes from bad judgement." The more at bats you get, the more experience you get, the more successful you can be.

The Law of Hunger - In the words of motivational speaker Les Brown, in order to be successful, “you have to be huuuuuuuuungrrry!” You have to want it so bad that you can taste it. You have to want it so bad that you are willing to pay the price to get it.

The Law of Balance - While you’re paying the price for success, it’s crucial to keep your life in balance. No one who is a success in their chosen profession and a failure in their personal life is a success.

The Law of Small Successes - Many people never even get started on the road to success because they have convinced themselves that the task is too big. This is a myth that stops many people. Even the most gargantuan of tasks are accomplished one action at a time. One action at a time. Simply break your large task into smaller, more manageable tasks, and celebrate each small success.

The Law of Momentum - Once you get a few small successes under your belt, a powerful momentum has been set in motion. You begin to believe you can be successful, and things that seemed difficult or even impossible before become simply challenges you are eager to take on.

The Law of Clarity - You need to be clear about what you are going for, so you will be clear on knowing when you get it. If you say you want to make more money, that’s not clear enough. I could give you a dollar and you’d have more money. But I don’t think that’s what you meant. How much more do you want? By when do you want it? What could you do to experience the most enjoyment while you are getting it? These questions give you more and more clarity.

The Law of The Trail - Success always leaves a trail. While there is value in blazing our own trail, there is also value in investigating how others have become successful. This leads us to.....

The Law of Modeling - To be successful, we do not have to reinvent the wheel. This is so powerful and yet so easy it’s amazing to me that more people don’t do it. Simply find someone who is doing, or has done, what you want to do, and find out how they did it. What did they do on a daily basis to get where they are? What did they have to believe, what did they have to focus on? Most people are so honored by the question that they will be glad to talk with you. Everyone likes to feel like they have experience and wisdom to pass on to others.

The Law of Habit - All of us need success habits that we think and do every day. Remember, “bad habits are easy to form and difficult to live with, good habits are difficult to form and easy to live with.”

The Law of Focus - It’s our responsibility, each and every day, to control our focus. If we focus on all the things that could go wrong and how we might not be successful, we will be pulled in that direction. If we focus on opportunity and all the many ways in which we can be successful, we’ll be pulled in that direction. We control our focus. It really can be that simple.

The Law of Enjoyment - So many people miss out on this one. They are so busy making sure they are successful that they forget to pause and enjoy it. Folks, there’s two things to shoot for in life:

1) to get what you are aiming for, and

2) to enjoy it once you get it.

Only the most wise and fortunate of us do both.

I found this in a Resource Guide for Seniors. Funny huh? Why wouldn't they share this with younger audiences? I'm sure the older people know how precious time and life are. Just wanted to share. 2009 is around the corner. Maybe it will spark some motivation!

5. Election Day!!

So, originally I was not planning on voting. That's right! I said it! I wasn't. I figured it didn't matter anyway. Than I heard something quotes that go like this "If you don't vote than you're just giving the other guy a vote. But if you vote, you vote for who you want." and "Women and African Americans could not vote before and people in other countries have no right to vote to this day, it's a shame if you don't vote" and "If you don't vote, you can't complain!" and than that was the last straw. I complain like the best of them. If my right to complain is being threatened than by gholly vote is what I'm going to do. But seriously, you get a cool "I voted" sticker and everything. They even have lines like at amusement parks. I'm surprised there isn't a carnival going on next to or near by each of the voting locations. Or a swapmeet or political fair of some sorts with hot dogs, popcorn, Obama and John Mc Cain stuffed prizes to win at the game booths. Flyers on propisitions, pencils, stickers goodie bags. I'm kind of disappointed really that "Corporate America" isn't taking more advantage of the situation. I wonder if that will be the scene one day at election time sometime in our future? Maybe not, but I wouldn't be surprised. That's what is so great about Evolution, you never know what will become.
Sorry, I know I got off topic there for a second. It's also not really my thing to be political, but it is my thing to want and wish for more. So go vote. Please? GO! VOTE!! GO VOTE!!! GO VOTE NOW!!!

6. Be the "change" you want to see in the world. . .

Change is being talked about right now. Whether in politics or in yourself "change" is the new buzz. What's amazing is how we are so intrigued by it, talk about it, want it, yet it is so hard to bring ourselves to do it. How can you inspire change? Do you want change? I believe that if a person could commit to change in order to get something that you want, it could probably inspire another to apply that concept in their life. It all starts with you. Plus, how could you be instructing someone to change if you don't do so yourself. It makes perfect sense! Get the motivation, determination and get to it! Imagine all that you could accomplish? Imagine all the things you could inspire people to accomplish? What if the world suddenly just starting helping each other? Could it be possible? Let's give it a try, shall we?

7. Free Motivation??

What motivates people? I sometimes wonder how different the world would be if more people in it were motivated? (Myself included) It's not easy to live. You get what you put in out of life. If you're not satisfied at what you currently have; don't be discouraged. You just need to put in more. Become someone that leads the way! Take what you need out of life, but also give a lot back. Get organized, oriented and on the ball! It's hard to get rid of the distractions, i know. . . tv, internet, magazines, etc. You are better than you think. You're capable of much much more. Find what motivates you and get yourself to where you want to be. You are what you want to be. Don't let anyone tell you different. You know what you need to do. So do it! If you don't know what you need to do, figure it out. Than do it! Step by step you'll make it that much closer to your goal.

8. A moment of violence. . . I mean silence . . .

Silence for soldiers who've lost their lives in this money hungry republican powered, disgusting war. Yet 7 years later the violence continues to this day. Ironically not against the powers that supposedly created the conflict. I wonder when the public will take back their rights? Take back their world. This is your world as much as it is mine, and everyone else. I don't approve of my world like this. This is not what my world should be like. I shouldn't fear everyday of my life and feel unsafe at all, anywhere, ever. My world should be happy, abundant, beautiful. So should yours. What happen to the days where you could leave your doors and windows open and unlocked, where neighbors knew each others families let alone each others names, where I decide what I'm capable of instead of the government deciding for me. I can't talk on the cell phone while I drive, but I can file & pay taxes every year no matter what? RIDICULOUS! Who said I have to pay taxes? I was born into this with no say? WTF? This is not natural law, but a man made one. I really pray one day that we take the power back. I'll leave you with a song that pumps me up everytime I hear it, by a band called RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE.

9. You might not be able to change the world, but you can change the way you see it!

It's all in perspective. How many times in life have you misunderstood something? How many times in life have you been misunderstood? Sometimes all that's missing is some tiny bit of information or detail that was left out or unknown to you or perhaps the message was miscommunicated to you. Then magically understanding starts to click, click, click til the situation as you know it makes sense. So if you miscommunicate with others, is it safe to assume you miscommunicate things to yourself? When you're body is telling you it's sick and fragile and yet you continue to be unhealthy and strenuous. When you think of one way to do something but actually do it another way or even start on a completely different task. It is incredible how awesome this world and life in it really are. If you view the world as bad and what's the point of living? Than all you will focus on consciously and unconsciously is the bad. You won't let one bad thing you see slip. You will further reaffirm your belief that the world is bad. But imagine you decide how your day is going to be ahead of time? Imagine you take a stand and lead your life in the direction you want it to go? You want to be happy & successful and live in abundance of health and wealth. . . . What's stopping you? or should I ask who's stopping you? The answer is YOU.

Always aim at complete harmony of thought and word and deed. Always aim at purifying your thoughts and everything will be well.

10. You go first. .

I wonder if people are just waiting for you to make the first move all the time. I'm not really talking in relationships, although i'm pretty positive it happens often in that spectrum. I'm talking about maybe your sibling waiting for you to make the first move in competition, or perhaps in life successes. I wonder why people look to others to set their standards in goals and in life. It's like you want to just do enough. Not too much effort, but not be a bumb. It's interesting, who do you compare yourself to? Are you ahead of them? Are you tie? Are they better in other areas and you likewise? Does that take away from your identity to be you? Are you so caught up in competition that you've stopped living the life you want to live and not just tagging along on someone else's journey? Don't wait. You never know what's going to happen.

11. Oh, it's you again. Or is it?

It's funny how things just pop up. A $20 bill you left in your jacket pocket from last winter, the stupid name and number of a person or place that you were looking for last week, an old friend you meet again. Timing I think plays an important part in things. If throughout your life you can go back and adjust the time so that you knew than what you know now, or forward time so that an oppurtunity comes quicker or perhaps freeze time to enjoy something you once had, that much longer. As we've been told "you can't live in the past" so forget it! Live for today. You will never see what happens tomorrow. It will always be tomorrow!
As time passes people change, situations change, life changes, views & attitudes change, apearances. . etc What happened yesterday was yesterday, I am not the same person I was. More life was lived, interaction, communication, information learned or passed was had. I again grew. Talk to me today and see who I am. See if you have noticed a change. Am i wiser, softer, happier, angrier, smarter?
Treat your days with a lot more thought and care. If today was your last day would you really care your cousin upset you 2 years ago and you miss him and want to say good bye, or sorry or that you love them and you can't over a silly arguement or mistake. Do what you feel, swallow that pride for once. Forgive & live. Make your life happy. It's yours! You're the one living it everyday. Change things to make you more comfortable. Do all you can. Be your best and do your best! Live now, live today because that is all you are going to ever have!

12. Work hard, Play harder!!

Do Work! That's what everyone says, but not necessarily what they do. Is it possible to always reach your goals? Maybe not, it is always possible to do your best! Your best may vary from day to day but when you go home or lay your head to rest you will feel satisfied in knowing that you've done all that you could today and you can continue where you left off tomorrow. The trick is to start your days off in the mindset that today you will do everything you can to achieve your goal. If you start off your day with intentions, don't you think you will get farther and achieve more? I'm sure of it! Especially when you put in your best effort everyday. (Okay well maybe not everyday). You get what you give. The satisfaction lies in you. If every night you recap the days events and try to adjust for the next day I can guarantee that you will achieve a lot more than you thought. How else do you think people succeed? If you don't feel satisfied every day in what you do, where you live, how you act than change it. It may take a short amount of time or maybe a longer period but the end result will be to your benefit. Before you can help anyone you must first help yourself. You can not take care of people without your interests being met first. So Do You & Do Work!!!

13. The Four Agreements

So i was recommended this book by a close friend of mine and I couldn't put it down. The most beautiful words ever combined together and bound. The author is Don Miguel Ruiz a surgeon who has devoted himself to learning and teaching the Toltec practices.
Excellent read and only 140 pages.

The first agreement is:
Be Impeccable with Your Word
" The word is not just a sound or a written symbol. The word is a force; it is the power you have to express and communicate, to think, and thereby to create the events in your life. You can speak. What other animal on the planet can speak? The word is the most powerful tool you have as a human; it is the tool of magic. But like a sword with two edges, your word can create the most beautiful dream, or your word can destroy everything around you." - excerpt from the book

The second agreement is:
Don't Take Anything Personally
" Personal importance, or taking things personally, is the maximum expression of selfishness because we make the assumption that everything is about "me." During the period of our education, or our domestication, we learn to take everything personally. We think we are responsible for everything. Me, me, me, always me!
Nothing other people do is because of you. It is because of themselves. All people live in their own dream, in their own mind; they are in a completely different world from the one we live in. When we take something personally, we make the assumption that they know what is in our world, and we try to impose our world on their world." "When you take things personally, then you feel offended, and your reaction is to defend your beliefs and create conflicts. You make something big out of something so little, because you have the need to be right and make everybody else wrong. You also try hard to be right by giving them your own opinions. In the same way, whatever you feel and do is just a projection of your own personal dream, a reflection of your own agreements. What you say, what you do, and the opinions youhave are according to the agreements you have made- and these opinions have nothing to do with me. " - excerpts from book

The third agreement is:
Don't Make Assumptions
"We have the tendency to make assumptions about everything. The problem with making assumptions is that we believe they are the truth. We could swear they are real. We make assumptions about what others are doing or thinking- we take it personally - than we blame them and react by sending emotional poison with our word. That is why whenever we make assumptions, we're asking for problems. We make an assumption, we misunderstand, we take it personally, and we end up creating a whole big drama for nothing. All the sadness and drama you have lived in your life was rooted in making assumptions and taking things personally. Take a moment to consider the truth of this statement. The whole world of control between humans is about making assumptions and taking things personally. Our whole dream of hell is based on that. We create a lot of emotional poison just by making assumptions and taking it personally, because usually we start gossiping about our assumptions. Remember, gossiping is the way we communicate to each other in the dream of hell and transfer poison to one another. Because we are afraid to ask for clarification, we make assumptions, and believe we are right about the assumptions; then we defend our assumption and try to make someone else wrong. It is always better to ask questions than to make an assumption, because assumptions set us up for suferring. The big mitote in the human mind creates alot of chaos which causes us to misinterpret everything and misunderstand everything. We only see what we want to see and hear what we want to hear. We don't percieve things the way they are. We have the habit of dreaming with no basis in reality. We literally dream things up in our imaginations. Because we don't understand something, we make an assumption about the meaning, and when the truth comes out, the bubble of our dream pops and we find out it was not what we thought it was at all."- excerpt from the book

The fourth agreement is:
Always Do Your Best
" Under any circumstance, always do your best, no more and no less. But keep on mind that your best is never going to be the same from one moment to the next. Everything is alive and changing all the time, so your best will sometimes be high quality, and other times it will not be as good. When you wake up refreshed and energized in the morning, your best will be better than when you are tired at night. Your best will be different when you are healthy as opposed to sick, or sober as opposed to drunk. your best will depend on whether you are feeling wonderful and happy, or upset, angry, or jealous." "Regardless of the quality, keep doing your best- no more and no less that your best. If you try too hard to do more than your best, you will spend more energy than is needed and in the end your best will not be enough. When you overdo, you deplete your body and go against yourself, and it will take you longer to accomplish your goal. But if you do less than your best, you subject yourself to frustrations, self judgement, guilt and regrets. Just do your best- in any circumstance in your life. It doesn't matter if you are sick or tired, if you always do your best there is no way you can judge yourself. 14. Other Worlds

Have you ever stopped to wonder what the rest of the world is like? What an average person's day is in China maybe? Perhaps you've thought about how Iraq and it's people are doing? No? Okay, well what about cousin Zeek in Oklahoma? Uncle Tony in New York? Maybe you should. Have you ever stopped to think about what our worlds have become? I mean really what are we fighting about (talking about this war going on since 9/11)? Is politics really like the movie "Wag the Dog" with Dustin Hoffman & Robert De Niro? Have the public really become this sidetracked that they can't see what's happening? This life is a game. It's up to you to figure it out and win, or lose. You decision, journey, choices and story. If you're the main character in your story don't you think that you should at the very least build yourself up a bit more? I have been very lucky to travel and see other countries, states, people and lives. It varies like the array of people we live with. No one chose what family, city, country or life that they were brought into but they did choose what lives paths to take. Everyone chooses for themselves (unless you live somewhere that you live held up at gunpoint from sun up to sun down). Places like that do exist believe it or not. You should be very thankful and cherish your life. Since obviously you have the luxury of internet since you're reading this blog. If you can believe there are people on this Earth who have never heard of the internet, Crazy!, I know right? No ipods, cell phones, toys even no roof over there head! "Nancy, No?" You say but it's true. So the next time you want to overindulge on that expenditure, extra dessert, or just some dollar item bullshit that's just going to create more crap and clutter in your life and in your house, do something nice for some one other than yourself, say a stranger perhaps? You never know people's life stories and that extra dollar, gesture or compliment could really make the difference to their lives. Maybe not so much yours, but theirs. And you're a giver aren't you? Currently you are lending me your time & attention and mind so I thank you. And I hope you appreciate me as much as I appreciate you. Not more, not less. . . . . unless you feel like doing extra!

15. No Excuses!

I am on a roll!! Just got approached a business oppurtunity that might go hand and hand nicely with my current project and I am very excited. Progress is kind of like weight loss I'm coming to realize. You're only going to get results if you put in the work. Sometimes you get lucky and have the flu. . . lol (easy come, easy go)

What have you always been wanting to do? Why aren't you doing it? Think about it. You only have one life as far as you know. Who knows if there is a heaven or hell? Who knows what comes after death. Not one person can tell you. (Those national inquiriers might, but how reliable is that information?) If you don't start what you want in life than how will you be satisfied? I'm not saying leave your spouse, spend all your savings or drink your life into a stupor. I am saying that all the things you've wanted to say to people, say them. (They'll appreciate the honesty) All the things you wanted to do, try & see. Make it happen! Those "special" items you buy and want to use, buy, or wear; Use them, buy them and wear them. The goals you have set for later ("I want to go back to school", "after the kids grow up", "once i get a raise", "when I retire") no more excuses! Like Nike's tagline says "Just do it!" You will definately thank yourself later. You control you & your future. Set up a goal and visualize it, smell it, taste it! Keep it in the front of your mind and YOU WILL GET THERE! I PROMISE!!

18. So little time,so much to do

Geez! So I'm researching how to get my empire going and I think to myself, I'm a writer? That's crazy. It all makes sense now. I've always loved to read and have had an appreciation for words. I use to say "People should pay for their words" meaning that if words cost money, there'd be a lot less B.S. out there and people would really focus on how to convey what they really want to say. So I figure I'll blog as often as I can. I can vent, learn and hopefully create my own following of fans. What is it that we are really suppose to do here on this Earth? Survive til we die? I think not. I'm still growing and learning and hopeful that one day everyone will be able to not have worries so that we can enjoy our lives instead of take the joy out of it.
*sarcasm* Thanks America for taking the joy out of people's lives. Great job!

I'm not saying that the U.S. is great nor is it horrible. What I am saying is that it should be better. Way better!

19. Fine tuning the writing skills.

It's interesing how I ended up here. I started off wanting to be a lawyer when I grew up. In high school I joined the Mock Trial club that would go act out a case that is real and tried and give the best performance possible as you are graded by judges. After I graduated I wanted a career that I could pursue while having a family. I went into the real estate business which was very lucrative at the time. The industry of real estate is now in its low and well I figured "No better time than now to make my dream come true". About 2 years ago I came up with a concept of Children's writing. Not just stories for fun and entertainment, but for money, education, fun and entertainment. I hooked up with my close friend and we've been working real hard and hardly working at the same time. I am just feeling a sense of hurriedness to complete my series, since it's needed in this economy more than ever. I hope to revolutionize the world with my products and services. I just wanted to briefly inform you of what's going on at the moment and add another entry to our blog. Amazing!! This world and life are Amazing!!

20. ughhh money

Money is such an important thing in a human being's life. So why wouldn't the world teach you how to acquire that wealth? Why won't the government teach you about this in school? It is very important for people young and old on how to accumulate, save, spend, invest and manage your $$. Why? because they want you to be in debt, they want you to become "middle class" a laborer for the rest of your days on Earth so that the rich can get richer and the poor (that's us) get poorer. I think that's more important than physical education, home economics, drivers training, etc. . . So as you folks are out there shopping and spending money that you probably don't have, try baking cookies as presents or cupcakes, knit a scarf or blanket, print pages of recipes and make a cook book. Save yourself from the billing disaster of the following month and spend that money on yourself, invest in your future, your thoughts, ideas, plans. . . Save for that rainy day because from the looks of things that will be what save you.

Did I mention "save your money?"
