1. Happy New Year!

2009 wasn't really such a bad year for me...until December that is. I'm Looking For A Monster! won a design award in March. I signed with the Ronnie Herman Agency, and she has 7 books of mine to send out to publishers. I also had my iPhone App come out, which is available for download here: http://linktoapp.com/Mix-Em-Ups+Deluxe
In December though, one of my bigger Graphic Design clients went out of business, so I'm looking to fill a hole in my schedule. If anyone is looking for corporate identity, web or print design, check out my just-updated website http://www.eclecticgraphics.com

4. On Hiatus

I've been posting weekly for over 4 years now. Currently I am trying to finish a number of pending projects, and I need to focus my full attention to them. I enjoy doing the weekly, and I will come back to it soon. I'll probably relaunch with a full re-design of the site when I come back, which will probably be sometime in the late spring. If you would like to be emailed when the relaunch happens, you can send me an email from here, or friend me on facebook, i'll probably let people know there first. See you soon.

5. Tossed Frogs

I apologise, first because Creatures & Characters was down for a day or so and also because I've been running late on keeping up The Weekly. Depending on what happens in the next couple of days, I may take a hiatus from The Weekly. I have enjoyed doing this for the last few years. I find it enjoyable as a hobby, an outlet and a record of what I've been doing for the last four and a half years. In the past few months I've been very, very busy and have found The Weekly to be a bit of a chore. I'll let you know what I decide. I haven't even checked my stats for a couple of months, I don't even know if anyone is coming here. (I know Pete's been here, He let me know about some faulty links) Let me know if you'll be sad to see it go and maybe it will help me decide.

6. The Man In Charge

My friends Frank and Gina Henandez put together a film called "The Man In Charge" this past year. The dragon you see above is a gift I made them many years ago. It's an incense burner I sculpted and it gets mentioned in the film in a very nice way and is featured in the title card. You can see the film here: www.elysianvisions.com/tmic.html

7. ...and a Happy New Year!

A Happy and Healthy New Year to All! I resolve that I won't use the Monsters again after this, but they looked like they were having such a good time at Christmas that they should continue partying into the new year! (plus, I've been to busy to do anything new, more on that later)

8. Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas Everyone! It's been a great year and it's going out with a very busy bang! I'm about to select the winner of the second Monster Sculpt contest, check out the winner shortly here: www.ImLookingForAMonster.com. I'll also be announcing a new contest soon.

I've been so busy lately, I have not sent out all of the printed christmas cards I have wanted to send. If you have not received one, and want one. send me an email with your address and I'll put one in the mail. ( I apologize if you feel slighted, I just haven't had time to look up everyone's address) I hope I have time to put together a New Year's image also. Wow, so much to do, so little time!

10. Cool News!

I found out some really cool news this past week;

• A week ago I found out that “I’m Looking For A Monster!” is on a “Best Books of 2008” from Building Readers, a national newsletter for teachers, pre-schools, libraries and other educational institutions.

• My editors at Random House informed me on Friday that I have won an “Excellence in Book Production and Design” award from the Bookbinder’s Guild of New York. My book will be featured at the New York Book Show in March.

I also found out that my friend Bob Eckstein's Book "The History of the Snowman" is getting great attention. Find out more here.

Here's another design for a revision of a book I've been working on. I'm trying for a looser style.
Come see me this Saturday at 2pm at the Dorchester Public Library.

I also want to thank Bob Eckstein for plugging my book on his blog, Freelancer's Lament Check out Bob's Book, History Of The Snowman.

13. Little Guy

I had a great time signing books in New Jersey. Last Friday I had a meeting with an agent in NYC. It was very productive, I learned a lot and I'm sending her some revisions. More on this later.

14. In Celebration Of Books

Recently I was invited to attend "In Celebration of Books" at Gunston Day School. I taught two classes of students about my books and had a great time. I felt a bit like an infiltrator though, as I was there with "real" authors. I still feel like someone's going to walk up to me and tell me they caught me pretending to be an author... and then they'll point out that I'm not wearing pants.

Come and see me read and sign "I'm Looking For A Monster" at the Barnes & Noble on Rt 9 in Howell, New Jersey
on Saturday Nov 15th, from 1pm to 3pm.

17. Monster Book Originals

Before "I'm Looking For A Monster!" was a pop-up book, it was a picture book. Here are two spreads from the original layout. I took a number of pages to this level to present the idea to Random House. I'm currently working on two other books that they are interested in. More on those later.

Don't forget, this week I'll be at the following book signings:

• I'm reading and signing books at the Borders in Annapolis Md. at Storytime,
October 23rd at 10:30am.

• I'm reading and signing books at the Barnes and Noble store at the Power Plant in Baltimore Md
from 12 to 2pm on October 25th.

24. School Visits & Signings

I had some great school visits this week. On Wednesday I visited Chapel District school and read to 4 classes in the media center (I still refer to it as the "Library") With the pre-schoolers and 2nd graders, I showed them a cool drawing tecnique and gave them coloring pages. With the 3rd and 5th graders I helped them make their own pop-ups pages. On Friday I visited Mrs Gallagher's 1st grade class at Easton Elementary. I had a great time. If you'd like to see my School Visit Brochure you can download it here.

I also have a new booksigning at the Barnes & Noble in Holmdel, New Jersey
