More patterns for that digi retro scrapbooking kit I'm working on....should finish it up in the next couple of days!!
I realized that I did not like my last mix tape pattern at all...it was
done too quickly and just didn't look right. So here it is revised, and
I like it much better.
A few months back, one of my freelance pattern designs that I did for
Cinnamon Joe Studios was sold to Paperchase (a store in the UK).
Today, while checking out Print & Pattern,
I
see a bunch of pictures of my monsters! How exciting!!! The
products ended up being pretty cool. The colors are different, but the
monsters are my little guys!! I can't post a link to the page (it is
too long or something), but go to amazon.com.uk and search "paperchase
spacers" to see all of the products they were turned into.
I miss the mix tapes. Although I have to admit receiving a couple as a kid that made me laugh because the song choices just weren't my bag. But the thought behind the mix tape was what made it so sweet.
Ok, this has been an inexcusable hiatus!! All I can say is that our family needs more than one computer...I never have the time anymore to update my blog! My husband has an addiction to World of Warcraft, and my son and I also enjoy playing it, but man it eats up so much computer time.
So now that I am done giving excuses, here are the two new pieces I did this weekend. Both are larger than normal, and I think for that reason I will sell them as prints on Etsy instead of selling the originals. I am starting to build up a set so I can have a show. There is an art gallery here in David City that has a local/emerging artists section, and one of the ladies that volunteers there told me I should just go for it.
Both of these are on painted backgrounds, and I think on these larger ones that it is a really good idea.
Here is the other one! This is one of my new faves.
Just a bunch of cutesy clouds. Pattern design that I did for Cinnamon Joe Studios.
I did a new paper cut today! It's simple but cute and to the point. It is in my Etsy store where you can also find my "All You Need is Love" paper cut. Yay for shameless plugs!! Anyway, here it is:
My newest pattern for Cinnamon Joe Studio. I just might make more
cycloptic bunny blobs and blue drippy blobs in the future, I kinda like
these guys. I imagine them constantly fighting and finding creative
ways to turn the other into goo. And if fits perfectly with this weeks Illustration Friday theme of balloons!
At the request of an Etsy customer, I took one of my paper cut pieces
and did it in black felt. I can't believe it worked!!! Looking at it
now I know I should have starched it before I began, but other than
being really floppy I think this one turned out great!! Now I have an
idea for some cut felt embellishments. Awesome.
I did this paper cut the other day based off of the song by Bob Dylan. I normally don't add other bits of color into a paper cut, but I think this one really needed the bits of red in it. As usual, you can find it in my etsy store!

So much has been going on these last few weeks, it truly feels insane! Let's see...I am now doing freelance pattern design for Cinnamon Joe Studios (which is something I love to do...I'm so much better at it than logo design). Don't think I should show any of those patterns, not yet anyway!
I have done quite a few paper cuts lately, too. I even wrote up a little tutorial showing how I do my stuff at www.crafttutorials.net, so check that bad boy out. An old tutorial I put on there (the piano hinge book) is going to be put on The Leaky Cauldron site because it was about making my "Monster book of Monsters" book. My hubby thinks I should continue working on that idea to maybe publish is (with a different title, of course) so that's on my back burner list of projects.
And of course there are many new paper cut art pieces in my etsy store. I did a series of three commemorating "Pulp Fiction," one of my all-time favorite movies...another Beatles piece...and a couple more personal ones. Here's a little something for your viewing pleasure:

Don't you just hate having this nightmare?
Don't you just hate having this nightmare?
Took me awhile to get to this, but last week when I saw the topic, the first thing to pop into my head was the song "Queen of my Double Wide Trailer" by Sammy Kershaw. I love that song but haven't heard it forever, so I don't know why it occurred to me. Must be all the episodes of "Big Redneck Wedding" I've been watching lately (serious guilty pleasure!). And of course I missed the "wide" week, but this still fits into the topic "worry" and here's why:
I hope nobody thinks I'm poking fun at people who live in trailers because that's not the intention. I've lived in a trailer. My mom's lived in one. My brother owns one. And as for the tacky decor, growing up in the rural midwest, you see it everywhere so it's more nostalgic than anything. After all, there's a place about five blocks from me that has a leaning cowboy. My mom would kill for the owl lamp. Sexy lady mudflaps are still seen occasionally (as are the Yosemite Sam mudflaps). When I was in college, I wanted to steal one of the old lady gardening butts, but always lost the nerve. Buying one was not an option; only in theft would it be cool to dorm room dwellers, just like stolen stop signs and construction cones. And I hate to say it, but my husband does own a set of deer antlers (he didn't shoot it, but thought it would be funny to have a set).
So, here it is in all its glory (oh, and it will be at www.lisaloo77.etsy.com):
