About Jane Marshall Dillon
Jane Marshall Dillon, a decendant of John Marshall, the first US Supreme Court Judge, was born and raised in Faquier County, Virginia and died of Parkinson's disease at her home, Little Full Cry Farm, Clifton, VA on November 15, 2000. She learned to ride at the age of three, attended George Washington University and opened her first riding school, Junior Equitation School in Hayfield, VA in 1950. She moved the school to Vienna, VA in 1955 and called her farm, Full Cry Farm. There she taught such students as Olympic gold medalists Joe Fargis and Kathy Kusner. Jacqueline and Caroline Kennedy were also visitors to her farm. She married William Dillon in 1941 and after his death in 1989, she moved her school to Clifton, VA and remained active in it's activities until her death. She was a rider, teacher, fox hunter and breeder of horses and served on the board of the Washington International Horse Show. She was a member of the Fairfax Hunt and was inducted into the Virginia Horse Show Hall of Fame in 1997. She wrote the books, "School For Young Riders", "Judging the Show Ring Hunter" and "Form Over Fences". She owned the famous small mare of the 1950's, April Dawn, which was a three time Virginia junior hunting champion and a trophy winner at many of the prestigious horse shows of that era. She is survived by her son, Randy and many people who miss her and her stories of riding and horseshowing in Virginia many years ago.
