Formerly known as Hodder Arnold, the division was formed after the merger of Hodder & Stoughton Educational with Arnold Publishers in 2001, and the subsequent acquisitions of the John Murray educational lists and Robert Gibson in 2002. Hodder Education now uses four imprints to focus on each of our core markets. Hodder Arnold This imprint covers books and digital materials for the FE, HE, Health Sciences and Consumer Education markets. It comprises Hodder Arnold Further & Higher Education, Hodder Arnold Consumer Education and Hodder Arnold Health Sciences. This well-established and successful list includes market leading textbooks such as Psychology: The Science and Mind of Behaviour by Richard Gross, the internationally renowned Bailey & Love's Short Practice of Surgery now in its 24th edition, and the Michel Thomas Language Courses which have dominated the best-seller charts since their launch in 2000. Teach Yourself The Teach Yourself series now includes books, audio ranges and digital materials was first published in 1938, the range was re-launched in 2003 and has seen impressive growth of over 30% during the past 18 months. Hodder Murray This imprint covers books, resources, digital materials and assessment for the schools market. Both John Murray and Hodder & Stoughton schools publishing now carries the Hodder Murray imprint. Hodder Murray is the second largest publisher for secondary education in the UK. It has market-leading positions in secondary history, science, religious education, business studies and the social sciences. Hodder Murray is moving strongly into the electronic market with its recently announced exciting collaboration with learnpremium from the Guardian on a range of digital material on CD-ROM for key stage 3 and GCSE. Hodder Gibson This imprint covers books, resources and digital materials for the schools market in Scotland. Both Robert Gibson and Hodder & Stoughton schools publishing for Scotland now carries the Hodder Gibson imprint. Hodder Gibson is at the forefront of Scottish educational publishing, producing books designed specifically for the Scottish curriculum from Primary to Higher level. Philip Allan Updates Philip Allan Updates publish a wide range of subject-specific educational resources, at A-level and GCSE, and run a comprehensive programme of conferences and courses in the UK for students and teachers.
