Thank you so much for the message Mr. Ashcroft. In regards to your question about my faith, I am not--nor is any of my family--Jewish although that is a very common question I am asked. The project that became my book came from questions that my students asked me every year in my classroom. It also came from my frustration and inability to find a Holocaust book for young adults that was written in a question and answer format.

I myself have spoken with several survivors over the years, but do not know any of them personally. I hope the ones that you know have shared some of their experiences with you. Within the next 20-40 years, our ability to get that information directly from survivors will be gone.
