Also good for girls who follow the Vampire Academy series or Blue Bloods. The premise is that the House of Night is a school for teens who are destined to become Vampires, in a society that accepts Vampires as a fact of life, as the best and brightest creative people in the arts. The school helps these kids to become Vampires by teaching them how to make the most of their abilities and about their history, the sort of things that any high school student learns in school, but here as filtered thru the lens of Vampire society. The series is written by a mother-daughter team, benefiting from mom's perspective as a multi-published writer and the daughter's younger vibe, being closer to the source material as it were. The vocabulary is good, not too adult but not too cliched or juvenile; it will appeal to both without boring either. The characters are reasonably well handled, none of the secondaries are cardboard, but they do have a whiff of Central Casting about them.
