The second half of the book is really quite exciting and I think this makes up for really dire first half. There is far more violence in this book than I expected - and yes I do mean violence. I have a soft spot for Harriet Sparrow and in Strangers at Witchend (#18) she emerges as one of the main characters in the, clearly crumbling, Lone Pine Club. Since she doesnt appear in Wheres My Girl (#19) and plays no significant part in Home to Witchend (#20) it is fair to say that Strangers at Witchend was the high point of her career in the LPC. The twins were less unpleasant than usual but Tom still annoys me. I do wish Saville could have written him out of the series! http://ukastronomy.livejournal.com/130601.html
