Amira143 said: Strega Nona is the enchanting tale of a little old lady with a magic touch. One day, Big Anthony (the boy she has hired to help her) secretly witnesses Strega Nona singing a magic chant to her pasta pot – which cooks itself. The next time Strega Nona goes out of town, Big Anthony tries to impress the whole town by singing the chant, and making pasta for everyone. Unfortunately for Big Anthony, he missed a crucial part of the chant to make the pasta pot stop, and it soon flows out into the streets threatening to take over the town. Strega Nona comes back in time to save the day and decides that “the punishment must fit the crime!” Children will find the detailed water colored illustrations and warm hues as fascinating as the tale. There are different sized boxes around each illustration, similar to a comic book on some pages. This is a story that youngsters will want to hear again and again, and would be a story-time sensation. Teachers or librarians could even make it a lunch story-time and serve spaghetti to go with the Italian theme.
