Lookman said: After one-thousand-two-hundred-and-thirty-four-days in the Celtic Underworld, the Oracle allows Jack to return to his surrogate human family on the Earth’s surface. The world he finds has changed and he has not. He still looks twelve and has to go in a class with people his own age who are much bigger. He has spent his missing years fighting Balor-of-the-Evil-Eye and improving his skills in Magination. Now, no one realises the respect he has as the hero of the Underworld. He is again at the bottom of the pile. There are some consolations however, his triplet brothers Haw and Rowan are coming to visit, and they look as young as he does.
When Jack returns to his parent's home, things are not quite right. The human world has changed, there are rumours about a far off worldwide plague – it is getting ever closer. Nobody believes him when he finds out that this story does not hold water.
When Haw and Rowan arrive with several houyhnhnms he has mixed feelings, but that is where their illusory adventure begins. At great personal risk, Jack and his imaginary friends Haw and Rowan with help from the houyhnhnms uncover what no one else wants to know. His journey takes him to the girl he will marry – he risks all to discover the Stone of Destiny and learns Excalibur’s origins.
