Current and former prisoners contemplate life, regrets, hurts, shame and, ultimately, redemption, in this fascinating look at human resiliency. Each of us can look back upon our lives to a point of decision that brought about positive or negative results. Many of us would give any�thing to go back in time and change a decision we made. All of us could give advice to someone facing a decision we once faced, based on our life experiences, in the hopes of saving others from making the same dire mistakes. That is the premise of IF. In IF, titled after the Rudyard Kipling poem of the same name, inmates tell the stories that have led to their imprisonment and, many times, ultimate freedom-salvation. The men represented in this book have made bad choices, but they are not bad men. Every human being has a soul. The contributors to IF want others to know this and what is truly important in life: living a character and conscience-driven life, finding and following a passion and cherishing and nurturing family. The men who bared their souls for IF don't want others to follow in their footsteps-all the way to prison. The stories in this book vary greatly, but all have a common theme of hope and the potential for a great life. There is a bright side to these stories of suffering, pain and failure. We learn and grow through our failures.
