A comet blasts the Earth, knocking a group of adventurers into space, as far as the planet Saturn. This was Verne's only true interplanetary book, and was unavailable for a number of years until this edition. Probably coaxed into print by the advant of the "Space Age" Verne foresaw. The back cover says "Bold adventure on a new satellite".
