From the supplier: The Electronic Bookshelf has become a valuable teaching aid for the Preston Public School District in Oklahoma, motivating students of grades K through 12 to read, while teaching computer skills. Students choose books classified on a point system on the program according to the reading challenge they pose. The program offers quizzes to 8,500 titles. Once students finish reading they take a quiz with randomly supplied questions, receiving a grade from the program. The program allows students to see which questions were missed. Scores are recorded automatically, and printouts can be generated. The program allows young readers to test multiple times if they fail, preventing discouragement. The district's superintendent says The Electronic Bookshelf has changed children's view on reading, turning many into enthusiastic readers.
