From the supplier: The cognitive-developmental theory of social development that has long dominated the thinking of teachers about the social and moral development of children may be partly to blame for the difficulties that teachers often have in coping with children's violent behavior. Many teachers lack awareness of children's potential for developing social competence, including self-control. However, research and theory from outside the cognitive-developmental view suggest that young children have the capacity for social and moral learning.
