Not all Labrador retriever puppies become duck hunters. But this exciting, fun-loving look at the first year in the lives of those that do is sure to delight Lab owners of every kind. After all, the Little Duck Hunter's journey from cute and cuddly fur ball to loyal retriever and family friend has elements that all Lab owners have experienced. There's housebreaking (quite literally), incessant chewing, basic obedience training (who's training whom?), and an unbelievable range of surprises, twists and turns, and trials and errors. Indeed, few things are as exciting as the journey a Lab pup takes in his first year. It's a time of incredible change-not only for the dog, but for his human family as well.
Photographer Lee Thomas Kjos's brilliant color photographs capture these magic moments in the lives of little duck hunters-yellow, black, and chocolate-from the time they're brought home to the time they venture out on their first hunt.
