By interacting, children learn to understand and appreciate the capabilities and potential of the physically challenged.
COUNT US IN TOO is an easy to read picture book, designed to enhance young children's understanding and awareness of physically challenged individuals. The focus is on helping children appreciate the capabilities and potential of physically challenged persons, rather than emphasizing their limitations.
CHILDREN LEARN TO: o-Appreciate the capabilities and potentials of physically challenged persons, rather than emphasizing their limitations.
-Understand the differences and similarities of physically challenged children.
-Physically challenged children can participate in many activities, and love to do fun things as much as other children.
-Not to be afraid to approach and interact with children who look or act differently than themselves.
-Gain a deeper appreciation of the meaning and values of diversity, which will help them, develop stronger.
Our challenged in homes, schools, and communities is to build an environment that bridges the gap between children and tap into their full potential.
Grace R. Norton, a Community Diversity Facilitator, did intensive research, interviewing teachers, parents, social workers, and physically challenged children. Grace believes children can be taught to interact positively with people of all races, nationalities, cultures, and physical abilities.
