This series looks at the passage of human development from conception to death. Each book tackles a particular age range and describes the biological, intellectual, social and emotional development of human beings during that stage. This book looks at adulthood, in all its phases and different aspects. It brings home to young readers all the various roles that an adult plays - as a parent, husband or wife, friend, worker, sportsperson - and all the difficulties and anxieties, as well as the pleasures, that adults have to cope with. The authors examine the reasons why people go to work, and show that there are many purposes and rewards to occupations. They look at adult relationships, leisure activities, bringing up a family, and crises that can affect all of these parts of life, such as divorce and unemployment. Finally this book looks at ageing and middle age, and what it means to adults both physically and emotionally.
