In the spring of 1986 there was an explosion at the nuclear power plan at Chernobyl in the Soviet Union, which released huge amounts of highly-radioactive material into the atmosphere. This book uses diagrams, illustrations and text to take the reader through the catastrophe, from the dangerous experiment at the power plant on 25th April 1986, through to the explosion, the massive evacuation of people from the area and the path of the radioactive cloud created by the explosion.
