This compact guide is designed to be of interest to everyone, including children, interested in identifying and learning about wild flowers, ferns and grasses. The first section is concerned with general information such as the plant and its environment - temperature, water, light, soil and the effects of the wind - plant dispersal and distribution. The second section contains a collection of 64 colour photographs of the most common plants which can be found by the roadside, in fields, meadows and woods, or close to house walls. The accompanying text describes the individual characterisitcs of each plant, along with at-a-glance information panels giving details on height, flowers, leaves and fruit as well as the countries where the plants occur. The final section looks at drying and preserving wild flowers, a glossary and index of both common and Latin names.
