Partial caption:
Squash Blossom: Once I visited an ancient settlement, high upon a cliff side in the American Southwest. The silent site was protected, and offered an unobstructed view of the desert far below. Today, however, this is the crumbling abode of ghosts. I continued walking the narrow trail, steep and strewn with fallen rocks. Curving around and up the sheer mountainside, it ended at a shallow cave entrance, disguised from below by pines and boulders. On the walls were barely discernable symbols, rendered in black and red ochre. I didn't stay long and left tobacco in a secret place, by way of recognition and thanks. A single image has remained with me since that day, and is located in the lower right of this painting.
