But when he overhears the Farmer s plan to retire him permanently Ol Bloo realizes it s time to move on. Off he goes, bayin and hee-hawin his way to New Orleans to become a honky-tonk singer.



Along the way Ol Bloo meets up with a dog, a cat, and a rooster, all a bit past their prime and ready to join him for a second career. But when the quartet stumbles upon a tumbledown shack filled with piles of food and a mountain of money, their plans take a turn.



Now the only thing standing between the aspiring musicians and their big dreams are three greedy thieves... and neither band will give up their loot without a fight!



Jan Huling s humorous retelling of Grimm s tale set along the Texas-Louisiana border is filled with wit and charm. Illustrator Henri Sorensen s classic paintings capture the unique down-home setting and colorful personalities of the characters.
