Breaking away from the larger territory, Venezuela tried to solve its problem of lack of a labor force by inviting immigrants from Germany to cultivate the land. However, unfortunate events make the newcomer unwelcome after they arrive and they are forced to stay away from the national inhabitants of Venezuela and confined themselves in isolation for near a century. You join the many adventures and difficulties these brave people experience in establishing themselves in the wild jungle. You travel with the young men, women and children starting with their difficult travel from Europe over the turbulent sea and their arrival in Venezuela. You learn their fears and challenges and celebrate with them when they succeed and cheer them on a as they continue despite the hardships on the ocean and as they established into the jungle and build a new town. You become part of the Tovar Colony for the many years the people survive isolated in the jungle, unknown to the original roots as well to the rest of the world. In the course of your reading ,you will meet some of the personages of Venezuelan history who played a role in this drama: General Jose Antonio Paez, Venezuela's first president; Angel Quintero, the Minister of the Interior and Justice, who first proposed the idea of European immigration to the President; Colonel Agustin Codazzi, a surveyor and topographer who lent his support to the undertaking at every step of the way; Don Manuel Felipe de Tovar, a distinguished citizen who donated land for the project; Nicolaus Teufel, who served as interpreter for the group throughout their long journey and later helped to establish important institutions for the community.
