This book chronicles the arrival of Viceroy Albuquerque in 1701. The illustrations are taken from a richly painted screen that shows us the public celebration surrounding his accession. One of the viceroy's pages becomes a character to lead children through the images. One can almost hear the laughter, gossip & wonder provoked by the latest fashions & entertainments. There is a whirl of dancing, music & bull fighting. Food & drink are being served. Even the viceroy's carriage is a spectacle. Illustrations.
