Dorrie Wilson hates change. In fact, she goes to great lengths to avoid it. She dreads the changing of the seasons and even keeps all her old toothbrushes in a shoe box under her bed. In the blink of an eye, however, she finds herself in a single parent home in a new neighborhood and school! With all these changes in her life, Dorrie feels like a missing puzzle piece. Just when she thinks things cannot get any worse, she discovers an unexpected good luck charm in the form of the portrait of her school's namesake, Dorothy C. Goodwin. Much needed good fortune begins to come her way-but not for long! Dorrie is horrified when she arrives at school one day and discovers that the portrait is missing! Is horrible luck going to continue to haunt her for the rest of the school year? Help comes from her only new friend, Francis Bernard Iannucci (also known as F.B.I.), who happens to be obsessed with mysteries and crime. Together, they begin searching for clues to the missing portrait and embark on an exciting journey to find Dorothy. This is a story for ages 9-12.
