Sherri knows her family isn't that bad, but her mother acts more like a child than Sherri. And her sister, Kiersten, gets on her nerves. Thank goodness I have my career as a concert pianist, she considers, heading for the Cleveland Art Museum one hot summer day. I'll move out when I'm 18. As she sits on a bench outside the museum learning new music, she meets Wayne Craxton, a boy her age who is into "religion." As they strike up a friendship, Sherri learns about Wayne's relationship with Jesus. One day, Bernie is hit by a car. Sherri's grief causes her to question her spirituality.
