It is approximately 1700 words in length. The book is a reflection of what happened to Flat Jack, a hand held size cardboard character, who planned to go on an uneventful vacation, first to North Carolina and then on to Washington, D.C. Flat spent a great deal of his time in his caregivers (Nana) duty bag. Nana had always made kids feel warm and secure. Planning things so that everyone had fun and knowing what to expect during trips was always her goal. This trip was different. What was in store for them as they headed for their destinations in mid September 2001, no one knew. The devastating events that occurred on September 11, 2001 changed everything. The security that Flat Jack had become accustomed to was challenged. This story reveals the events of September 11, 2001 in Washington, D.C., according to Flat Jack. His thoughts and experiences are revealed while he hovered in a very special place, his caregivers duty bag.
