MoreTHE GIFT is a 'Once upon a time...' tale set in medieval times. The plot revolves around the lives of three princesses who are in training for a competition to determine which one will become queen. Each has different talents and strengths, but only one can be chosen to rule. One princess befriends a poor bald girl from the village and forgoing the competition with her sisters makes a daring sacrifice. You will fall in love with the princess as she touches your heart with her sensitivity and generosity.
The book stresses the importance of courage, piety, and sacrifice, as character traits for children to admire and emulate. These same values have been set as character building goals which are currently being incorporated in our school classrooms.
The story was inspired by a true life event, when in 1999, a Miss USA beauty queen actually had her stunningly long and gorgeous hair cut off and made into a prosthetic hair piece for a twelve year old girl. Bonus pages at the end tell the real life story of this beauty queen and her special friend, upon whom this tale is based, and how a Florida organization, Locks of Love, helped them make a dream come true. Also included is a page dedicated to Locks of Love, the organization which provides the hairpieces for children in need.
