MoreAre some of us destined for celebrity? Are others of us doomed to infamous stardom? Do we find fame, or does fame find us? These are the questions found at the heart of this exciting, yet touchingly funny, young adult novel LOTTIE BRIGHT & THE STARMAKER'S UNIVERSE. Described by some as "Harry Potter meets American Idol," it's the story of a young girl who finds herself caught between the desire to become famous, and the perils of celebrity. Through a fantastical journey that takes her to the Starmaker's Universe, Lottie discovers that fame and fortune are not all they are cracked up to be. Along the way she meets a bizarre cast of characters, including an eccentric, mentoring flicker named Estella, a creature made created from the parts of past-famous animals called Windsor, and an operatic trainer with the ability to break objects with her voice known as Madam Primadonna...just to name a few. Each has a hand in teaching Lottie what she needs to know to one day be a celebrity, should the Starmaker so choose. With her newfound friends Chad, Duane and Jilly at her side - all starlings like herself - these talented youngsters begin to face their fears and believe in themselves, learning such valuable lessons as we all possess special talents, hard work and training will lead to success, and the importance of self-sacrifice. In the end, when forced to fight the Black Hole of Infamy's Dark Underlord (the leader of the evil side of the entertainment world) and his army of stalkers and stage monsters to save the Starmaker's Universe (and the world!), Lottie and her cohorts realize there just might be things more important - and much less dangerous - than becoming stars.
