Book Description
An almost orphan, 10-year-old Rebecca goes to live with and work for an elderly couple. Her chores are those of a grown man, a condition perhaps not unusual during the Depression years. When morning chores and a several mile walk make Rebecca late for the school bus repeatedly, she considers dropping out of school and giving up her dream to become a teacher.
