Carol Mills wrote the short stories that describe the bizarre feats of people and animals, real and ridiculous. Susanne Ferrier provided bright and detailed pictures, giving an individual personality to each creature. Each page explodes with colour. The large size of the book makes it ideal for even the youngest children as the objects in each picture are big, easy to see and recognize.

The author does not sacrifice educational value for visual pleasure, however. Mills makes sure that each letter is firmly implanted in the minds of young children through repitition.
