In a charming story with a new twist, Karen Markee Slattery uses delightful illustrations and skillfully rhyming words to tell of Peapicker Marie Peelit, who loves to help her mother in the garden. What she love even more, however, is her collection of shoes.

Peapicker Marie Peelit has all colors and all kinds - red sneakers, purple pumps, and green high heels, just to name a few. Each morning she goes to her closet to choose her footwear for the day, then dashes out to the garden where she and her mother lovingly care for and harvest equally colorful vegetables and flowers - tomatoes, strawberries, and Peakpicker Marie Peelit's favorite, pea pods.
