This series aims to help teenagers make up their own minds on some the most controversial issues facing people around the world today. The arguments on all sides of each issue are illustrated using quotations taken from a variety of different sources, government statistics, independent experts, public figures and people with personal experience of the subject being treated. The readers are guided through the various arguments by a narrative that introduces the quotations and their sources and puts them into context. The latest facts and statistics are featured in special information boxes throughout the books. Questions at the end of each chapter focus the reader's attention on the key areas of debate. The books in this series will provide useful resource material for current affairs, history, politics and social studies courses. This book examines perceptions of crime and how it should be dealt with.
