I am an oldest child too, so I sympathize strongly with Ida, the main character of this story, who is left in charge of her baby sister. When the baby is kidnapped by goblins, Ida has to go out into Outside Over There to rescue her and take her back home. As a child Sendak was affected powerfully ... more
