Hi! I started out to be a MG writer but my first novel turned out to be YA, and my first picture book has just been published, so I guess I touch all the bases! My first novel, THE DEEP CUT, was published in late 2006 and is set in Virginia during the Civil War. It's based on a true even in my family's past, one I've thought about many times throughout my life. Booklist gave THE DEEP CUT a starred review! My new picture book, THE TWELVE DAYS OF CHRISTMAS IN GEORGIA (Sterling Publishing, 2010) is illustrated by the fabulous Elizabeth O. Dulemba. The story takes two cousins on a fun romp through the state of Georgia and follows the pattern of the beloved holiday song. I recently completed another novel, VEGAN RULES, a very edgy, contemporary YA about a vegan scuba diver. There's serious interest in this one already, so stay tuned. My next work will also be YA, about an immigrant girl from Estonia who is inadvertently caught up in a crime. The story is set in rural New Jersey in the 1940's.
