I live in a small town in Minnesota with my husband Jim, our two sons, and our two dogs--Frank is featured as my avitar.

I have an MFA with an emphasis in poetry. I've published in a few journals, and have earned some recognition in contests and such. I don't write much poetry these days, but I've found my happy place writing kids' books.

I had a manuscript accepted by Stone Arch publishers a couple of years ago. I was thrilled. It was the longest piece of fiction I'd ever written. The process pulled me in and I found myself having so much fun creating my characters and then showing up to the page to see where they wanted to go. The novel is called Dog Summer. It's a girl-and-her-dog story that also touches on issues of animal neglect and discrimination. Unfortunately, after the publisher paid me in full, they decided it didn't fit into their new marketing plan. So they released me from my contract. This story is looking for a home...

I've co-written a couple of non-fiction books with my husband, and I had my first kids' novel published early this year. It was a real kick. The story is Cheer Challenge, and it's about a jr. high girl who becomes captain of the cheerleading squad. I hope to do more books like this.
