I completed my graduation in Architecture from the Bharthidasan University, Tiruchirapalli, India, in the year 2000. I worked as an architect for a couple of years and moved on to become a copyeditor at Integra Software Services, a leading typesetting firm in Pondicherry, India, in 2003. I started my career as a copyeditor and later held senior positions, taking charge of a team of copyeditors. I have handled books from various prestigious publishers such as Palgrave Macmillan, Blackwell, Elsevier books, Elsevier MRW, Taylor & Francis, Thomson, John Wiley & Sons, Pearson, Springer and Cambridge University Press.
In November 2010, I established a prepress company named WordXperts in Pondicherry, India, in partnership with my colleague, specializing mainly in editorial services. Presently I head a team of 25 copyeditors, proofreaders and indexers. My team currently specializes in
1. Proofreading and collation for Elsevier-MRW books.
2. Coldreading for Cengage, Pearson, T&F books.
3. Copyediting for Cengage, Pearson (involves PCL editing also), ABC-Clio, T&F, and Elsevier books.
4. Indexing
5. Alt-text creation
6. Abstracting
I am in-charge for the quality and delivery of the team. I conduct training sessions on a group and individual basis to improve and develop the copyeditor’s skills. Feedbacks from the clients are documented on a regular basis and training is oriented towards meeting the client requirements.
