Tresca N. (Watkins) Pennington was born (in 1982) and raised in Ohio. After graduating from high school, she moved to North Carolina to attend college at NCA&T State University. There she would obtain her Bachelor's of Arts, in Professional English. Although finishing magna cum laude, Tresca struggled with progressive vision loss, due to a rare and incurable eye condition. Though diagnosed (in 1998) with Stargardt's Disease, the juvenile onset of macular degeneration, initially, Tresca refused to acknowledge her difficulty...but by the completion of her college career, she would already be legally blind! Impossible to deny the reality any longer, she began taking part in low vision rehabilitation, learning to manage the disability through counseling and with the accommodation of special lighting and magnification devices. In the midst of this process, she became certain of her calling and career path – one that would employ her existent skills, talent and PASSION – writing! Turns out, decreased eyesight prompted increased insight and Tresca finally felt ready to pursue her lifelong dream of sharing her writing with large audiences. Prior to embracing her limitations, Tresca lacked inspiration. Now, armed with a heightened appreciation for the many details she was no longer able to (easily) visually acquire, she felt eager to embark upon her dream. She founded a small family publishing company - Penn Inc Publishing and is very busy promoting her very own children's book series - READ ME A LULLABY! She and her illustrator-husband launched the first book of their unique collection in February 2014! Treca lives in North Carolina with her husband (Jay), their two children (Jayda and Treston), and their two dogs (Jiggy & Jordan).
