After graduating from The Ohio State University in 2005, I made my journey south to warmer climates. I currently live in Atlanta, Georgia and teach 5th grade in a Title I elementary school. I became a Special Education teacher because of the large number of today’s students lacking a positive male role model. In my brief years of teaching, the majority of students on my caseload have not yet, by 5th grade, found a passion for reading. So often, students at an urban setting such as his school find it difficult to relate to the majority of looks with which they come in contact. My students have been very successful in my four years because I feel as
though I have been able to create a classroom atmosphere that is safe, fun, and exciting and allows rapport to be built to the point that my students refer to our class as family. My stories are typically created in order to reach students who may better relate to the rhythm and rhyme with which they have grown accustomed through their musical preferences.
