Since 2002, Peggy Reiff Miller has spent her time researching and writing about a topic dear to her heart – the history of the seagoing cowboys and the Heifer Project, today's Heifer International. This labor of love has generated several published magazine articles, the draft of a historical novel for young adults, and the DVD documentary A Tribute to the Seagoing Cowboys. Her picture book The Seagoing Cowboy, being illustrated by SCBWI member Claire Ewart, will be released by Brethren Press March 31, 2016. Miller has also had children's stories published in Highlights for Children and two magazines now out of print: My Friend and Lighthouse. Life experience that informs her writing includes study abroad in college and travel in 19 countries; teaching at all levels, administrative work, church-camp kitchen management; volunteer youth work and not-for-profit board leadership; piano performance and accompanying with one CD to her credit; and parenting twins. She is a graduate of Manchester University (IN), Western Michigan University, and the Institute of Children's Literature. Miller lives with her husband, Rex, in Goshen, Indiana.
