About Matt
Matt Burgess is Skylar’s owner and the author of a new picture book called Skylar and George Washington. He is an entrepreneur and photographer living in Atlanta, Georgia with his wife. He holds two degrees from Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama.
His experience learning history as an adult led to apassion to share what he had learned with his children in excitingly real ways. A search for children’s books found a few that were nothing like he hoped. Rather than give up, he poured his vision into research and study of the best practices of storytelling and learning. The result is an innovative book called Skylar and George Washington.
Matt is from Wilson, North Carolina and has called several cities home including Memphis, Tennessee, Talladega, Alabama and Richmond, Virginia.
