After working in libraries for over 25 years, I "took my pension" to become a freelance consultant and trainer. I am also teaching children's literature and programs for youth in libraries classes for Texas Woman's University. I'm the book review editor for ParentWise: Austin. I read a lot of mysteries and write about them for Book Links. My book, Bringing Mysteries Alive for Children and Young Adults, is available from Linworth Publishing. I highly encourage any author who wants to write a mystery for kids to read it! I also conduct workshops for teachers and librarians on using mysteries to encourage reading. Invite me to your teacher or librarian training session!

I'm really excited that my first "real" children's book will come out in 2010 (that seems so far away) from Charlesbridge. My friend Adrienne Yorinks co-wrote with me and is doing the illustrations. I worked with Adrienne on Quilt of States, published by National Geographic in 2005 but this is the first children's book I really conceived.

My husband and I live in a small town just outside of Austin. We love walking our two schipperke dogs and travel as much as we can (often with the dogs).

On another note, I am NOT the Jeannette Larson (notice that there are two "n"s) who is an editor of children's books. People frequently mix us up but I was actually "here" (in the book profession) first. We have met and feel that as long as neither of us does anything to embarrass the other it's okay that she used my name and I use hers.
