Bright-spirited, easy-to-read, funny and mysterious adventures - seen through child's eyes in the very beginning, then continuing through the teen years up to adulthood in later books. Written with aspects of modest science fiction, but always based on deep knowledge of real research findings, providing scientific explanations of miracles and apparitions experienced by our book heroes. The stories are trying to make you laugh or smile at certain points, but also to leave an impression "I want this to be real" or "I will make this real one day" rather than "I am so sad that this reading ends and the story could never happen in real life".
STORY LOCATION
The story series starts in a fictive European communist country in 1970s - 1980s. In literature, this era was often represented by (1) officially approved "socialistic realism" books with lots of censored misleading propaganda produced by conformist writers; or (2) bitter memories and sad documentaries by emigrants, escapers, and objective political analysts. My books show these things from the angle of a light satire - as a grotesque scenery for secret societies and resistance circles practicing the prohibited activities (such as private ownership, reading western literature, having spiritual views, listening to foreign music, receiving TV and radio broadcasting from abroad, etc.) in illegality and under various creative forms of camouflage.
HEROES
Dr. Sinister Barton is a well educated man interested in unexplained phenomena, disguised as a speech therapist working in a ramshackle governmental health center. He is highly motivated by mysterious disappearances in his own family history, but nobody around him knows that. Odd pieces of furniture and unusual historical artefacts can be found in his No. 5 Misty Road apartment, maintained by a caring and loving elderly lady generally known as Grandma Estela. Her age, nuances of speech, and occasionally surfacing little details in their mutual relationship do not match her eventual role as the doctor's mother, aunt, cousin, or friend - so, who is she, really?? In the first book, under rather adventurous circumstance, those two meet the Boleks, and start becoming family friends. This is mostly catalyzed by the curiosity of their son Bruno, who decides to undertake fact-hunting quests on his own. He and his friends claim to be young investigators and meddle into the matters of adults, with unpredictable results and a wide range of tricky consequences - funny, not so funny, up to truly serious. So serious, that the book series continues through the Bruno Bolek's adulthood, by which time our heroes have accumulated allies, friends and enemies from all sorts of powerful interest circles, including state authorities around the globe, mighty corporations, and criminal organizations.
MORALE
Not every mystery can be resolved within a week. Patience, dedication, continuing interest and long-term systematic efforts are needed to achieve great goals. Never give up - real life will bring more failures than instant winnings. Friendship and mutual trust can help people to survive in difficult times and in dysfunctional society.
