Gretchen Ehle Zimmer, M.Ed. graduated with a degree in elementary education from Clemson University in 1992, and earned a Master's in Guidance and Development from Winthrop University, in Rock Hill, SC in 1995. Children, education and counseling have been the primary catalyst in her work for the past ten years and she has been a champion of public education in the Carolinas. Her experience as a guidance counselor and mother of three have inspired wonderful stories with great character messages from tolerance, respect, bullying, peer pressure, carelessness, responsibility and so on.

Gretchen, a Carolina native, lives in Lake Wylie, SC and enjoys spending time with her husband, Mike, and their three children, Will, Luke and Carly. Traveling, gardening, boating and writing are just a few of her passions. Her personal philosophy is based on the belief that by utilizing the power of positive thinking, and combining a great attitude with perseverance and humor, anything is possible.


Accepting Apples is the first in her seasonal series and it focuses on encouraging children to be more accepting and welcoming of others, regardless of differences. Gretchen is looking forward to the final development and release of several children's books in 2010. Next in the series is The Turbulent Turkey which shares an important message about bullying through the eyes of barnyard animals. We look forward to having this title to begin the fall and the 2010-2011 school year. Also in production are a few alliteration titles which combine zest, literature, sports and common fears for the young and young at heart.
