Earl...I'm sorry it took so long to get back to you, but the last 7-8 weeks of school for a media specialist are grueling. I'm just now feeling I can relax and summer has started. As far as getting your book out. Many people like myself will write reviews on our blogs and then they are shared with social networks of other bloggers. Librarians also share these within their districts. If your publisher is willing to send out some ARC to some librarians or book sellers this will help. Book signings obviously where lots of children would be and author visits in schools. Try local schools first, because most schools have budgets for author visits. If you are local, they won't have to pay for your flight and hotel. Offer autographing and work with the librarian and your publisher to pre-sell your books. I hope this helps.
By the way, your book on fires is a great topic for most elementary schools. This is always discussed in the curriculum. Usually there is fire prevention week. Also, you have a bilingual version which is great.
