I have lovely memories of reading children's and young adult books when I was a kid. I read the babysitters club series, the boxcar children series, and classics such as Ann of Green Gables. The authors I used to read include Roald Dahl, Lois Duncan, and Gary Paulsen. Because I lived in Hawaii for my entire life, I really enjoy Hawaii literature. I've enjoyed my two children's literature courses, when I took them during my graduate studies.

I attended my first American Library Association conference at Chicago in July 2009 and really enjoyed exploring the children's book exhibits. I got to meet authors including Richard Peck (and got his autographed book and shook hands with him!) and Cynthea Liu (she's a lovely lady to talk to) and from a distance saw Judy Blume signing books. I also got to take a picture with a giant white bear (or a person in a bear costume).

I just graduated with my Master of Library and Information Science degree and worked at Mutual Publishing, the largest trade book publisher in Hawaii, as a marketing and public relations associate and publisher's assistant. I really liked working there, because of the friendly people and the interesting work I get to do. Plus I got to proofread a few children's books and meet local authors.

If I were to become a librarian, I might become a children's librarian in a public library in my home state. I can see myself as a librarian a few years now, but then again I might not even become a librarian.
